P3P Theory of Change Primary outcomes LONG TERM OUTCOMES 5-10 years ULTIMATE GOOD • TWO-YEAR COACHING APPRENTICESHIP (1) We develop long-term sports coaches capable of teaching life skills while (2) they provide good quality support to student athletes during that process INTENDED IMPACT • COMPONENTS • APPRENTICESHIP OUTCOMES • STAKEHOLDERS • We track that program impact is sustained and increased over time. • …train coaches and follow their progress with schools • We train coaches and follow their integration into schools • We track that the coaches positively impact their student athletes and schools • We match schools and coaches • Can teach competence, confidence, connection, and character • Coaches • Remain in low-income schools • Enlist athletes into coaching • Further develop sport programs Intra- personal Formal training • By 2019, P3P will develop and empower 150-200 long term positive youth coaches to effectively teach competence, confidence, character and connection to student athletes in low income schools of Montreal Student athletes from low-income schools develop into healthy, resilient, engaged adults leading fulfilling lives Inter- personal Peer to peer network • Have deepened relationships with school leaders and guardians Professional Mentorship & feedback • Improve grades • Graduate from high school, CEGEP and/or holds jobs/careers Environ-mental Real life coaching on & off the court • Shows improvement in competence, confidence, connection & character • Student • athletes • Recipients of P3P coaching • Schools & guardians • In schools, coaching hours contribute to fulfilling teaching requirements • Employment of P3P coaches School leaders and student athletes’ guardians see youth sport as a key resource that supplements and reinforces student athletes’ education in school and at home (rather than as a mere privilege) • Apprenticeship support/ feedback • Approve/support of athletes participation
