A little background • The City Interactive Map was created 15 years ago, and has grown and evolved over time from user feedback • It serves as one-stop-shop for employees and public to find geographic information • Internal content for staff & external content for public - all available from one map application • Hosts over 70 layers and dozens of search types • Heavily used with 1,500 page loads per day

  4. Primary technologies Our map is a custom application, created in-house, using the following technologies. • HTML5 • CSS • JavaScript / Dojo • ArcGIS API for JavaScript / AMD

  5. Many uses… • Viewing historic information • Visualizing field locations - without leaving your desk • Marking up maps - to report field findings • Searching for specific data • Aid in City Utility decision making Let’s look at each of these in more detail.

Benefits • The City Interactive Map offers broad benefits to users • Providing quick access to core GIS data in one web application • No need to open GIS desktop software, which can be slow and cumbersome • No need to connect to and search for specific layers in your GIS catalog, since the core layers are all here in one place • Allowing overlay and searching capabilities across vast amounts of geographic data • Making analysis quick and easy • These benefits provide ease of use and flexibility for decision makers to discover opportunities and target efforts where they are needed.
