  1. Brick Location • Brick is located in a small dark gloomy sewage system, where not many or if any people will go very isolated, lonely you could say part of the unknown to some people as no body is going to go down there- a great place to hide a dead body. • Other locations are an isolated telephone box located on a high way but it seems very quiet again its like not many people will be around there. • Another location is set in a typical American high school corridor/locker room again its not busy with school children, it just seems very isolated. • Brick is typical ordinary people but unordinary things are taking place that not many people know are going on and that there is a dark underside taking place. 3 2 1

  2. Brick lighting and colour • Parts of Brick are very dark/gloomy/grey is used a lot to set the atmosphere as sort of sad very down and depressing-very DE saturated. They’ve used these dark colours to symbolise the sadness and anger that the boy feels that his friend has been killed. • Some parts of Brick are very bright/light and a sense of openness bright colours like blue, yellow, green, white and red. The bright colours have been used as maybe as a sense of hope that he might be able to meet his friend and save her from being killed. 2 2 1 1

  3. Brick Costumes and Appearances The costumes and appearances in Brick ; the boy has brown shoulder length curly hair , he seems to come across as a nerd as he has that scruffy, geek, looser appearance about himself-its to say that he doesn't really care about what other people think about him he is who he is. He seems to be very lonely, isolated from everything and every one he’s in his own little world. girl was his only friend I think this because we never see any other person being featured in the opening sequence. The boy is wearing very casual clothes. The boy is wearing very casual clothes he doesn't seem to fit in with the other college kids as they would most properly be wearing football jerseys designer brands. The boy has shoulder length curly hair, he seems to come across as sort of a bit scruffy looking. The girl comes across as bit for higher up in the social ladder than the boy as shes wearing a dress, high heels its like she's trying to fit in with the high school trends. With the girl wearing heels it could also mean that she might have been out partying/clubbing as she is wearing heels.

  4. Props Used Some of the props used:  Cigarette- This has been used as a symbol of the person driving by in the car as been cool, thinking that big/clever because he is a drug dealer. Glasses- I think that glasses have been used to show that the boy is a nerd/geek Paper note- I think that this has been used to show a sort of secrets going on between the boy and girl and that the two are at some sort of distance because of what's going on with the girl and the drug dealing. Bracelets- I think this has been used to show us that the girl likes to look good shows us part of her social equalities. Phone box- I think that this has been used to show a sense of fear as its so isolated where it has been placed that it makes us think that anything could happen at any time.

  5. Camera Shots There are many camera shots used in Brick’s opening title sequence they have all been used very well by using establishing shot, close ups, long shots and many more. The extreme close up of the boy at the beginning is very effect as it shows us that he is going to be in the film a lot straight away from the beginning. Establishing shot, shot of the boy and the dead girl this shot is very important and useful as its the shot that shows us that its going to be a thriller film. the medium close up the boy crouching down looking at the dead girl tells us that he just found her and that he is most probably in a state of shock that he has just found her like this. The mid shot of the girls dead body laying down the drainage is very effective as it doesn't show her hole body only the bottom half. The close up of the girls head where her hair is all over the place and her eyes are shut is telling us that she is definitely dead and the way that she has been placed makes us know that she has been murdered and just dumped there. There's a close up of the dead girls bracelets still on her arm even though she has just been murdered.

  6. Sound • The sound in Brick is used very well as its gives the opening title sequence a very distorte, dull and sad feeling to it making us feel sorry for the boy as he has lost one of his close friends. • I think that the sharp music/dialogue and a carefully twisted plot makes it to be a sensational movie experience. • The music was produced by Nathan Johnson • This link gives u a chance to listen to the music in the beginning of the film • https://learn.varndean.ac.uk/mod/resource/view.php?inpopup=true&id=18077
