  2. Definition of Style

  3. What Society Thinks Itis This image was chosen because she is up-to-date on today’s trends. Everything from her outfit to the way she is posing shows that she is comfortable in her own skin. I want viewers to understand that it is okay to want the latest trends, but you must also be yourself. I went for something relatable that most young people could relate to.

  4. What Experts Think It Is This image was chosen because it shows that there may be people who feel that style should be presented in a certain way. This may be true in the fashion world, but I feel that you make the style, don’t let it make you. I wanted a literal effect.

  5. What My Friends Think It Is This image was chosen because my friends do not view style as a way to keep up with society’s standards. To them, style is seen through the ability to better yourself. I want viewers to understand that style begins in the inside. I wanted to create a positive effect.

  6. What Rihanna Thinks It Is This image was chosen because I love her style. She shows that style is effortless and should come natural. I wanted this image to inspire others to wear what they want and wear it well. This is exactly what Rihanna does.

  7. What Olivia Pope Thinks It Is This image was chosen because Olivia Pope is beautiful, powerful, and fearless and her idea of style, to me, is doing what needs to be done. I want viewers to understand that portraying to be fearless is one thing, but believing and knowing you are will be visible in the way you walk and talk. I wanted a literal effect.

  8. What I Think It Is This image was chosen because I view style as self expression, but also the way you see yourself when no one is around. I want the audience to understand that styles do not own you, you make the style. I wanted to encourage with this image.

  9. Definition of“Style in Writing”

  10. What General Readers Think It Is I chose this image because many people who read, look at the sentences as words on paper, but it is more complex than that. I want the audience to understand that the ability to add style to writing is a talent and gift. I wanted a humorous effect with this image.

  11. What Scholars and Critics Think It Is Ichose this image because scholars and critics view style as something determined by the writers themselves. I want the viewers to understand that they shape the writing, and topics presented to us are just a guide. I wanted a literal effect.

  12. What College Students Think It Is College students view style as a right or wrong answer, but it is really up to us to choose what techniques to use. I wanted the audience to see that there is no right or wrong answer. We can meet requirements and still be ourselves. I wanted the writers to be open minded.

  13. What I Think It Is This image was chosen because I feel that style in writing represents the personality of the writer. I wanted that represented different aspects of personality. I wanted a relatable effect.

  14. Style is You • When I think of the word “style” I think of the way a person expresses their personal interests, whether it is through fashion or writing. It is up to the individual to determine what stylistic elements to include or eliminate. Individuals who have a strong like for fashion may decide to add a waist belt to an outfit or bathe themselves in jewelry. Style represents the confidence and comfort an individual has to freely express their personal interests. “Style in writing” represents the way a writer reveals their personality through their words. The writer chooses certain words and language to express themselves without losing sight of the intended audience. For example, if the writer is writing in a personal diary, the use of vulgar language may be acceptable, but is unacceptable for an audience of young children. “Style in writing” is where the writer exudes personality through the use of certain words, language, and structure.
