All About Ms. Brown’s Class • This is my 5th year teaching. • I graduated from Troy University in Troy with my Bachelors of Science in Human Services, Masters of Science in Elementary Education. and currently working on my Educational Specialist degree in Elementary Education. • I am currently finishing my Educational Specialist degree in Elementary Education. Will begin my Doctor of Education in Education Technology Management • I grew up in Evergreen, AL. • I love teaching, playing tennis, twirling, and spending time with family and friends. • Looking forward to a WONDERFUL year!

Fish Notebooks • This is a 3 ring binder that houses EVERYTHING for the year. • Teaches your child organizational skills for a lifetime! • This is to be returned DAILY! • The notebook contains: • Money and Note Pouch • Behavior Chart • Newsletter Pouch • Reading Passage • High-Frequency Words • Homework Pouch • One pocket contains items that are to be “Left at Home” the other pocket contains items that your child will “Bring back to School”.” • Class List and Schedule • Contact Information (In Back Sleeve)

  5. A couple of procedures to dive into a great year…. • Please make sure I always know how your child gets home. If there are any changes please send and note to school or call the office • Please make sure your child has snack or money for snack each day. Snack is 50cents and Juice is 50cents. Snack money can only be sent daily. Please send cash only • Please make sure your child has lunch or money for lunch each day. Full price is $1.75 • A Lunch check can be sent daily or for the week but please let me know if the check is to be sent to the lunchroom. • Signed papers (graded work) will be sent home on Thursday. Please send all work and folder back with signature. • We will go to art and music room weekly. • Our class will have computer and library every other week. • Please make sure that your child has tennis shoes for PE.

  6. A newsletter will be sent home every Friday. Please read this weekly. Every week I will also write how much money is in your child’s lunch account. • Please give any medicine that is to be taken at school to the nurse in the office. • Please do spelling homework, math homework, green AR folders and read the reading passage every night! • Promotion and retention will be discussed on September 11th at Parent Conference Day. • School begins on August 11th. Please have your child here by 7:45. They will be dismissed at 2:35.

  7. Ms Brown loves good behavior! • Inside the FISH notebook there will be a behavior chart. I will give your child a , straight face or a sad face. Please initial this DAILY! • Coosada passes out Gotchas. A Gotcha is given when your child is caught making a good choice. If your child is caught making a bad choice they will be given a MBI (Minor Behavior Incident). • My class also has marble parties. Every time I catch the whole class making a good choice, I put a marble in the marble jar. When the jar is filled, I allow the children to vote on the type of party they would like.

  8. Please return the following items by the first day of first grade! • Volunteer Sheets • All Forms • Handbook (County & School) • Library (front and back) • Lunch (with Social Security number • Address Verification • Student Information Sheet • Internet • Textbook • Classroom Library

  9. Supplies that will be needed… • Supply List (I put one in your packet of papers.) • Headphones • Fieldtrip T-Shirt are $6.00 • Donation Money $10.00 (only if you would like .)

  10. Wish List • Dust Buster (We use this to clean up after snack.) • Any G rated DVDS that you would like to give our class. • Electric Pencil Sharpener • T-shirt Transfers • Laptop!!!

  12. Before you leave….. • MAKE Sure that I know HOW your child gets HOME!!! • Get your picture taken!
