PersonalizedLearning • Personalized learning adjusts the pace (individualized), adjusts the approach (differentiation), and connects learner’s experiences and interests. • The learner is an active participant in designing their learning. • The use of technology, data, different teaching methods, and learning approaches combined to create an environment that meets individual learner’s needs.

  4. Why transition to Personalized Learning? The traditional classroom model has some serious challenges.

  6. Not all students learn at the same pace. The curriculum is currently set by calendar, not by student readiness.

  7. Why Personalized Learning at TRE? • Promote student and teacher self-directedness. • Provide opportunities for choice so learners own and drive their learning. • Total Students = 558 • Gifted = 137 (25%) • SpEd = 77 (14%) • EIP = 71 (13%) • Non-identified = 273 (48%)

  9. School Structure • Student Advisors • Personalized Learning Plan (PLP) • Instructional Focus (IF) designed to provide enrichment and personal interests of learners • Students will continue to receive interventions and remediation during IF time • Four 50 minute academic periods.

  10. Student Support Services • Services will continue to be provided for Special Education, Gifted, and the Early Intervention Program

  11. Student Advisor’s Role • Conference with students regarding progress of PLP • Meet with parents • Gifted, EIP, and SpEd teachers will serve as advisors • Facilitate progress monitoring towards goals • Manage student digital portfolio

  12. Parent’s Role • Help to design PLPs and set goals. • Monitor the digital portfolios. • Serve as a member of the child’s Learning Team. • Communicate with teachers and his or her child.
