Absorb excess moisture with an undyed piece of material such as terry cloth. Blot the area with clean, lukewarm water. Repeat this step as needed to absorb urine. b. Mix two tablespoons of white vinegar with 0.5 liters of lukewarm water and work into the affected area. After a few minutes, rinse with a sponge soaked in clean, warm water. Repeat if required. c. Blot dry by placing layers of undyed material or terry cloth under and on top of the wet area. Weigh down with heavy books for an hour and then let the rug air dry. You can speed up the process by placing a fan near the wet area. 2.Removing Tea, Coffee, Soft Drinks, Juices, Milk, Ice Cream, Alcohol and Grease Based Stains a. Absorb the excess moisture. Sponge the area thoroughly with clean, lukewarm water. b. Mix 1 tablespoon of mild detergent with 0.5 liters of lukewarm water & apply with sponge to the area. Repeat with the water-only solution. c. To dry: blot area with an undyed cloth such as terry cloth or blow dry with a hair- dryer on the lowest setting, such as the “cool” setting. 1

Absorb excess moisture, Sponge the spot with clean, lukewarm water, removing as much of the spill as possible. b. Mix 1 cup of soap-free carpet shampoo detergent to 4 cups of lukewarm water and rub into affected area with a sponge. c. Rinse well with clean lukewarm water and a sponge or cloth. Blot area with undyed cloth thoroughly. or mild to dry it 4.Removing Blood, Eggs and Gelatin (Jell-O®) Rinse with cool water and blot dry. a. Remove the spill with a spoon, then absorb excess moisture with undyed cloth, sponging the spot with cool, clean water. Remove as much of the spill as possible. b. Mix a 1/2 cup of salt with 1 liter of water and sponge the area with this mixture. Rub gently into stain. c. If the stain persists, mix 2 teaspoons of detergent with 0.5 liters of water. Then sponge the area with clean, cool water. Blot with undyed cloth to dry. non-alkaline 2

As oriental rugs are made from natural materials, nail polish can be removed from them with nail polish remover. b. Apply mineral oil around the exterior perimeter of the nail polish stain with a Q-tip and apply nail polish remover with an eye- dropper to the stain. c. After a minute, mop the area dry with several cotton balls, ensuring that all nail polish remover is gone. Sponge area with cool water and then blot with a dry white terry cloth. 6.Removing Wax, Grease, Butter, Peanut Butter and Gum a. Remove as much of the excess fatty substance as possible with a blunt knife or spatula. b. Cover the stained area with brown paper or white blotting paper and, with an iron set on warm, gently press the paper. c. The paper will absorb the substance. d. Mix 2 teaspoons of non- alkaline detergent with 2 tablespoons of white vinegar & 0.5 liters of lukewarm water. e. Apply the mixture to the stain. Rinse thoroughly with clean, warm water and a cloth. f. Blot the area dry and then dry it more thoroughly with a hair-dryer on the low setting. 3
