This report presents key economic and social indicators of Lithuania for 2013, highlighting significant statistics on population, GDP, unemployment rates, and earnings. The Lithuanian population was approximately 2.97 million, representing only 0.6% of the EU population. The GDP reached EUR 34.6 billion, with a per capita value of EUR 11,696. Main economic and social indicators of Lithuania 2013 • In 2013, in Lithuania lived 2 million 972 thousands inhabitants. Lithuanian population accounted for only 0.6 percent of the total EU populationand during the decade fell by 13 percent. • During the last decade Lithuanian population age structure has changed. In 2004,the elderly peopleaccounted for 15 percent of the population in 2013 - 18 percent. • In 2013gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to EUR 34600 million at current prices. Against 2012, the GDP change, seasonally and working day adjusted, stood at 3.4 per cent. • Gross domestic product per capita amounted to EUR 11696,6.
Main economic and social indicators of Lithuania 2013 • In 2013, the unemployment rate stood at 11.8 per cent which was by 1.6 percentage points less than in 2012. • The long-term unemployment rate stood at 5.2 per cent and was by 1.5 percentage points lower than in 2012. • In 2013, against 2012, the youth (aged 15–24) unemployment rate dropped by 4.8 percentage points and stood at 21.9 per cent.
average monthly gross (pre-tax) earnings in the whole economy, including individual enterprises, grew by 5 per cent and totalled EUR 646. Average monthly net (after-tax) earnings totalled EUR 501. • The highest gross earnings were recorded in financial and insurance – about EUR 1216,the lowest – in accommodation and food service – about EUR 391. • A quarter of all the persons employed earned EUR 318 and less, the other quarter received earnings ranging from EUR 318 to 474, yet another quarter – from EUR 474 to 756, the rest – more than EUR 756 .
