  17. God’s Word on Modesty Juanita Moore

  18. What is Modesty? • Freedom from conceit or vanity. We have the right not to conform to the vain way that our culture presents itself! • Appropriateness in dress, speech, or conduct. • Modesty in your conduct: willingness to stand apart on what you believe.

  19. Does God really care about what I wear? I Timothy 2:9-10 9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety not with braided hair or gold, or pearls, or costly array. 10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Yes GOD cares!!!

  20. What does your dress say about you? • Males are more visually stimulated than females. Sexual dress brings sexual attention. This is all they will see you for and typically all they think about when looking at you. • Females are more emotionally stimulated, wanting to be known for what’s inside rather than out. • How can anyone see you dressed provocatively and get to know you at the same time??

  21. What does God want you to believe? Psalm 118:8 – It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. Psalm 139:14 – I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. Psalm 18:30 – As for God, his way is perfect; the way of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to those that trust in him.

  22. Today’s Teen Magazine Topics P.S. He's Waiting Be Sexy How to make the first move Kiss Him Get that Guy 22 Jeans that Scream Nice Butt!

  23. These headlines drive you to question: What others think of you What you do What you look like when all that really matters is… Who you are in Jesus Christ

  24. Words to Live By… I Corinthians 6: 18-20 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

  25. God’s Plan of Salvation We are separated from God at birth You need to know it! Why? Richard Moore

  26. Do I really need Salvation? • Salvation: • Preservation from destruction. • In theology, the redemption of man from the bondage of sin and liability to eternal death. • So anyone who has sinned would need to be saved from destruction. • Isaiah 59:2 Sin separates us from God • Romans 3:23 “All have sinned…” • 2 Corinthians 5:10 All will be judged for the deeds we do, good and bad. • Therefore, yes, everyone needs salvation.

  27. Is there really a “plan” for salvation? • What exactly does “plan” mean? • A series of steps to be carried out or goals to be accomplished. • An arranged scheme, design. • Would God, knowing man needs to be saved in order to be in a right relationship with Him, set forth a plan to accomplish this? • 1 Corinthians 14:33 God does things orderly, not in a confusing way. • 1 Corinthians 2:7 Before the first sin, before even the world was made, God had His plan. • 1 Peter 1:10-12 For thousands of years men tried to understand God’s plan, but it wasn’t until the final piece, Yeshua, was set in place that His salvation plan was ready to be followed.

  28. What is God’s Plan of Salvation? • Simply put, it is to justify man. • God is Justice. We say He is righteous, but “righteous” literally means in both Hebrew and Greek: Just. • When we sinned against God, His righteousness (justice) demands our blood be shed (our death) • Romans 6:23 The wages of sin (the payment you deserve for the work you did) is death. • Hebrews 9:22 For remission of sins, blood is needed. • Yeshua HaMashiach, God’s son, came to earth to die in our place. • Romans 5:6-10 While we were enemies of God, Jesus died for us. His blood instead of ours. • 1 Peter 3:18 The just (Jesus) for the unjust (us) that we might be right with God once again. • So the plan was to pay the price for our sin with blood as God’s righteousness required.

  29. God’s plan includes a choice. • The plan is justification. Blood for sins. But there is a choice involved. • Do you want to use your blood or Yeshua HaMashiach’s blood? • If we accept Christ’s blood? • Hebrews 10:14 (13:12) we are sanctified (set apart) to God. • 1 John 1:7 we are cleansed of sins. • If we reject Christ’s blood? • Hebrews 10:26-31 There is no other sacrifice worthy enough to save us. • John 8:23-24 Without Christ, we die in our sins, eternally separated from God. • Justice demands punishment for the sinful. • Matthew 25:46 and it is eternal.

  30. Which way will you choose? God’s way or your own way! God’s way = Life eternal with God! Your own way = Eternal damnation

  31. How do I accept Christ’s blood? • By following the plan! • A series of steps or goals to be accomplished • To be justified we must take part in Christ’s blood. • To take part in His blood we must follow a series of steps. • Each step has a purpose, and skipping steps ruins the plan. • If we were following an architect’s plans, and chose to skip the foundation, or leave out the windows, would we have the building the architect designed? • Obviously not. Likewise we must follow God’s plan as He designed it.

  32. 1 PETER 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

  33. How do I accept Christ’s Blood? • First we must hearGod’s word. • God’s word (the Bible) is His written will for mankind. It teaches us how we can be complete. • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 The scriptures are from God. • Matthew 4:4 The Bible is as important to our life as food and drink. • Why must I hear (study the Bible)? • Hebrews 11:6 because we need faith to please God. • Romans 10:17 we can only get faith from hearing God’s word. • John 6:44-45 It is impossible to come to God, without hearing and learning from Him. • John 12:48 His word is the measure by which we are judged.

  34. We need God’s Word ? It’s in the Word of God

  35. How do I accept Christ’s blood? • After we have heard and learned, we must believe. (Have Faith) • Why? • Hebrews 11:6 again, it is needed to please God. • John 8:24 If we don’t we will die in our sins. • What must I believe? • Hebrews 11:6, John 8:24 “that He is” Not just that God and Christ are real, but that everything they have said is, without doubt, Completely true. • Acts 16:31 That Yeshua HaMashiach is the Son of God. • Belief takes effort. • John 6:29 it is a work • Luke 6:46 It requires obedience to His will

  36. How do I accept Christ’s blood? • The natural result of these first 2 steps will be repentance. • What is repentance? • 2 Corinthians 7:10-11 it is a godly sorrow for the sins we commit which causes us not just to stop sinning, but to go farther and rectify the wrongs we have done. • Why repent? • Acts 2:36, Luke 13:3 God commands it of us. • Acts 17:30 once we believe, we are no longer ignorant. • Ephesians 4:20-23 Through this knowledge we no longer want to be the sinner we were before, we are new. • 2 Peter 2:20-22 If we are not sorry, and desire to cease, would we not simply return to our sinful ways?

  37. Repentance is a change of heart God’s way =Life eternal Your way =Destruction Except ye repent ye shall all like wise perish

  38. How do I accept Christ’s Blood? • Now Christ asks something of us. A Confession. • Confession literally means “to say the same thing” • It unites you and places you in harmony with the thoughts and words of another. • What words are we in harmony with? • Matthew 16:16 Yeshua HaMashiach, the son of God. • Romans 10:9-10 It is another expression of the faith within our heart. • Matthew 10:32-33 Christ demands no less than professing Him publicly from His followers.

  39. How do I accept Christ’s blood? • Finally we come to it. We are ready to set ourselves apart from the world and participate in the blood of Christ. • We know and understand because we listened and learned. • We believe that He is and all He has taught us is true. • We are truly sorry for our past lifestyle, and repent of those deeds, turning to a new life. • We confess Christ to the world, that He is the Son of God. • And so we take the plunge.

  40. Christ’s blood for our own. • Justice demands blood for our sins, and so we die to our sins. • Colossians 2:11-12 we put off our sinful body, and take on a new one through baptism. • In the likeness of Christ. • Romans 6:3-11 through baptism we take part in Christ’s crucifixion. We die as He died. And as He was raised we too raise in a new life. Dead to our past sins. Our debt to justice has been paid. • We are now IN Christ. • Galatians 3:26-27 We are part of Him, and He a part of us. We are no longer separated from God. • Galatians 3:13 We are redeemed from sin. (redeemed meaning: bought back) Once again, we are God’s children.

  41. One man caused the problem and one man solved it! Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

  42. Summary of the plan Man is separated from God: Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. 1 God sent his son to die for us: 1 John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins 2 Christ bridges the gap for us: John 14:6 Yeshua saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 3

  43. Summary of the plan 4 Man is home with God: John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

  44. Praise Him, Praise Him! Run to Him Now! Praise Him, Praise Him!

  45. I have been redeemed, now what? • The final step, which lasts our entire life: Remain faithful. • 2 Peter 1:4-11 we have been given a second chance, be diligent not to waste it. • 2 Peter 2:20-22 Now that we know the truth, how much worse would it be for us to return to our old lives? • Hebrews 10:26-27 Choosing sin over Christ, leaves us with a fearful expectation of what lies ahead. • There is help. • 1 Corinthians 10:13 In Christ, God never allows us to face more than we can handle without sinning. • 1 John 1:9-2:2 In Christ we have forgiveness when we falter.

  46. God’s Plan of Salvation • Hear: Romans 10:14 • Believe: John 3:16 • Repent: Acts 3:19 • Confess: Romans 10:9, 10 • Baptism: Matthew 28:19, 20 • Live faithfully until death: John 14:15 • It is a simple truth: Christ is the author of salvation for those who obey Him: Hebrews 5:9 Will you?
