King Wu of the Zhou dynasty • He conquered the Shang dynasty and established it as the Zhou dynasty. • King Wu faithfully followed his ancestors’ teachings. • people believe that he was chosen by heaven • The Zhou Dynasty was an important period of Chinese history. 37 emperors ruled for nine hundred years before the Zhou Dynasty was conquered by the Qin Dynasty in 221 B.C.

  4. Where was this dynasty located? • Its was located near the Yellow and China sea • Was west the Shang Dynasty, but after the defeat of Shang the borders was extended .

  5. The mandate of heaven • What is the mandate of heaven? • The mandate of heaven is this idea that heaven chose china’s ruler and gave them powers. • This was a new political order for the citizens to follow the mandate of heaven.

  7. inventions • They invented many military weapons • Created many herbal and other kinds of medicines • Mostly adopted the Shang lifestyle • Invented chopsticks

  8. Fun Facts  • This was the longest lasting dynasty • Chopsticks were invented in the Zhou dynasty • Confucius was born in this dynasty • One of the 1st dynasty that started to collect books. • Claimed that the Shang dynasty lost the mandate of heaven due to poor governing.
