Year in Europe/Year Abroad • Languages: French, German, Spanish and Italian • Courses: Almost all departments offer a year abroad • Structure: General language (2 hrs Horizons) plus YiE-class (1hr) • YiE classes: Dedicated slots (Friday lunchtime; levels 2-6) No course book Assessment: (levels 2, 3 – 30 mins. written exam; levels 4- 6 - presentation plus 1-hour written exam) Topics for in-class work based on class composition Tasks (in-class): reading comp, listening comp, summary, dictation, puzzles, info gap, translation, discussion, note taking Presentations: biography, descriptions (substance, experiment, project, graph), summary, critique Prep for residence abroad (guest speakers, masterclasses)
