  1. The Salem Witch Trials Mrs. Martin’s 3 Period 10/13/11 AustynHosley

  2. People accused of being Witches and wizards • In the late 1600s people were accused of being witches and wizards. If they were found guilty they would be hung, or have there heads cut off or in other cases, crushed by rocks many people were accused but very few were not found guilty.

  3. Trusties • Ever since the witch trials had begun people became untrustworthy everyone thought that everyone were witches/wizards. There for the witch trials were born anyone accused of being a witch/wizard was put on trial.

  4. Tituba • Tituba was a slave born in Barbados in 1670 and owned of the farmer Samuel parris. One of her daily duties was to take care of his children by telling them stories of spirits, magic and fortune telling. Soon after the children started having hissy fits and people started blaming Tituba for cursing them. • They took her to the trials and she confessed of being a witch • She immediately was put into jail and sold, never seen again.

  5. Giles Corey • He was a fairly wealthy farmer and a member of the church • When he was 80 years old he was accused of being a dreadful wizard by Anne Putman. She told the trail that he appeared to her and told her to write in the devils book! He was put to death by the pressing of stones.

  6. Sarah good • Sarah had and difficult life, She was a teenager when her father committed suicide. She married but her husband died. Her daughter was accused of being a witch when she was only 5 she had to go to prison. Sarah was also accused of being a witch and was hanged.

  7. John proctor • Proctor was born in England. When his sister-in-law was convicted. He could not hold his objections. Then his wife was put on trial and proved her of her innocence. Then he was accused and was imprisoned, tortured and hanged on August 19, 1692.

  8. Anne Putman • Born in Salem Massachusetts, She enjoyed visiting the parris family’s home and also listened to tituba’s stories but the stories made her feel guilty but Anne showed signs of bewitchment. Anne joined a ringleader group and accused people she disliked or were witches she could think of. She blamed satin for her actions and died alone at age 37.

  9. The Salem witch trials were continued • The witch trails went on and on for a series of years, soon it died down, so people did not believe in witches or spirits. • I think it would be crazy living in the 1690s where you were accused and killed if found guilty. • If I was one of those people accused I would just say “I’m done for.”
