  1. The Return of The Elm Seed Bugs Don’t let these critters enter your home to escape the heat this summer, it will become a nightmare. Elm Seed Bugs will become a real nuisance to ​your home in Idaho​. These insects come from central and southern Europe, but have recently invaded Idaho. Elm Seed bugs do not bite or cause harm to humans, but they do travel in numbers, there is never just one! With the temperature rising outside, the bug count inside your home will increase by hundreds and hundreds, even thousands at a time. You can find them in your home or garage, hanging on doors, on window sills, in the dog food, on the window screens, EVERYWHERE. It is best to take care of your Elm Seed Bug problem immediately! The ​Elm Seed Bug​ is a black and reddish-brown insect with a triangular shape marked on it’s back. They can get up to ½ inch in length. Elm Seed Bugs are often mistaken for Box Elder Bugs, so look out for the unique triangular shape on their back to help identify them. Elm Seed Bugs are found in the early months of May and June because they spend their winter hibernating. The insects then mate and lay eggs on Elm trees in the spring. Once the insects become adults, they leave the trees. Like stink bugs, Elm Seed Bugs release a distinct smell to show their presence. Once the Elm Seed Bugs mark their territory, your home will be identified as a good nesting site - resulting in more bugs! If you smell the scent released, immediately call for professional help to exterminate your problem before it becomes a disaster. In order to get rid of Elm Seed Bugs you need to treat the inside of your home as well as surrounding outdoor areas, such as the Elm tree near your home. Treat your lawn and gutters with cyonara rts.
