  2. Idle hands make idols • First, that phrase is not Biblical, but is still a fundamental truth • There is always someone who has still not heard the message of Christ, someone is still hurting, someone still needs to know someone else cares

  3. Thousands of good causes • Every nation, every state, every county, and every city needs help • Overseas, within this country, within 5 miles of your home, there are organizations that need support • Very direct charter issued in Luke 10:1-20

  4. But when they were idle • David was a mighty man of worship and of war against all that opposed God • In 2 Sam 8, he defeated or subdued • Phillistines, Moab, Zobah, Syria, Hamath, Ammon, Edom • In 2 Sam 10, he again defeated or subdued • Ammon, Syrians from Damascus and Syrians from Zobah

  5. At the time when kings go out to battle • 2 Sam 11 – David’s idle hands found ways to build idols • By the end of Chapter 11, he had quite the list • Peeping Dave • Adultery • Lying • Murder • Unethical orders to a subordinate

  6. Another Example • Luke 12:16 – 21 • God has blessed us with an abundance • Our barns are full, our harvest is plentiful • The fools life was required of him that night. His personal food bank was full, his spiritual one was empty

  7. Galatians 6:6-11 • Serving creates a kindred spirit • If you sow toward His Kingdom, your benefit will be a greater manifestation of His Kingdom • If you feed your flesh, the result is more flesh • You will be tempted to lose heart, but do not, the reward is close at hand • If you have opportunity – and we have opportunity

  8. Berks Women in Crisis • Women who still had the marks of those mistreated by the one that should have protected them • Children without someone to show the true love of a father • If anyone needs to hear a message of hope, One who can be trusted, someone who will return beauty for ashes, it is them

  9. Cub Scouts Weekend Retreat • Young kids spending quality time with their parents • Adults sitting around a campfire building a stronger community • Kids playing ping pong, four square, and foosball building friendships that fashion who they will be
