  4. Jess Tietgens Week of October 16th Tallied two goals and one assist for five points in 2-0 week for the Trailblazers, including the deciding goal in a 1-0 win versus Fitchburg and a goal in the Trailblazer’s 3-0 win over Umass Dartmouth

  5. Jen Wehner Week of October 23rd Posted a 0.81 goals against average and a 0.882 saves percentage in the Trailblazer’s two ties versus RPI and Westfield State. Wehner tallied 7 stops in a 2-2 tie with RPI and added another 8 in a 0-0 tie with Westfield.

  14. Adam Tarsa CIAO Classic MVP Tarsa was awarded the Outstanding Defensive Player of the CIAO Classic by stopping 15 shots in the Trailblazer’s two matches, nine stops in an 1-0 loss to Union, and then adding another 6 saves in a 1-1 draw versus SUNY Potsdam.

  15. Men’s Golf The MCLA Golf team enjoyed their best fall season under head coach Dave Bond. MCLA was victorious in the Trailblazer and Westfield State invitational’s, while team members had great individual success.

  16. Shane Ortega Ortega earned two consecutive medalist honors early in the season, firing a one over par 71 in the SUNY Cobleskill Fall Classic and a one under par 70 a week later at MCLA’s own Trailblazer Invitational. Ortega also led the Trailblazers in their win over rival Westfield, shooting a 79.

  17. Jess Tietgens MASCAC Player of the Year Tietgens continued to rewrite the MCLA record books this fall as she was named the MASCAC player of the year. Tietgens has amassed a whopping 85 goals in setting the scoring record at MCLA.

  18. Women’s Soccer The Trailblazers continued their recent trend of success, as they claimed the regular season MASCAC championship. It was the fourth consecutive winning season for MCLA. The Trailblazers were awarded a fifth seed in the ECAC New England Championships yesterday and will play fourth seeded St. Joseph (CT) tomorrow

  19. Men’s Soccer Under head coach Adam Hildabrand, MCLA had back to back winning seasons. The Trailblazers finished fifth in the highly competitive MASCAC. MCLA will graduate three seniors in Adam Tarsa, Mitch Maselli, and Israel Diaz.

  20. Volleyball The MCLA Volleyball team, under head coach Amanda Beckwith, qualified for the MASCAC playoffs for the first time in her tenure. MCLA finished the season with a record of 14-12. The Trailblazers will say goodbye to four seniors in Amanda Lane, Christina Kidd, Amanda Borsotti, and Tasha Berroa

  21. Tennis The Athletics department hired Mia Fabrizio in August to lead the Tennis program. Fabrizio’s team does not have a senior on the roster as they look to continue to improve under her direction.

  22. Women’s Cross Country The Women’s Cross country squad is wrapping up their schedule this weekend in the New England Championships. MCLA has received solid performances from Xhirley Gonzalez and Caitlin Culver.

  23. Men’s Cross Country The Men’s Cross country squad is wrapping up their schedule this weekend in the New England Championships. MCLA has been paced by Nick Raby and Anthony Cancilla this season.

  24. Banner Raising The athletics department will honor the 2009-2010 Women’s Basketball team’s Conference championship by raising a banner in the Amsler Campus Center gym on Tuesday November 16th @ 7pm before MCLA opens the new season against St. Joe (CT)

  25. Women’s Basketball MCLA seniors Hilary Perks, Chelsey Burke, and Molly Broda will be counted on the lead the defense of their programs’ conference title this season.

  26. Holly McGovern On October 22, head Women’s Basketball coach Holly McGovern was enshrined into the Westfield State athletics Hall of Fame.

  27. Men’s Basketball The MCLA Men’s Basketball team will open up on the road at Sage on November 19th. MCLA senior Jon Greenberg is closing in on the 1,000 point plateau. He will be joined by seven other seniors looking to make a splash in the MASCAC this season.
