  5. Mission • The MSIS Association is a student organization directly aligned with the Master’s of Science of Information Systems (MSIS) program at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. Founded in 2006, the organization was established as a way for students to get involved with a variety of leadership, social, community service, and professional development opportunities outside of the classroom.

  6. Objectives • Develop and maintain professional relationships with recruiting organizations • Facilitate community service projects and opportunities • Provide opportunities for MSIS students, faculty, and alumni to network and stay connected • Organize on-campus social events for current MSIS students • Continually enhance the awareness, status, and visibility of the MSIS program

  18. What you can do now • Pay Association Fee • $30 (Accept Check & Cash - include name) • There will be a folder at Orientation for Fees • Deadline: September 5th • Register on MSISassociation.com • Include ALL fields • Upload a picture • Create a Committee • Become an Officer!

President • Provide leadership to the Association. • Act as the chief spokesperson of the Association • Coordinate and Chair all meetings of the Association. • Work directly with the Association Advisor to ensure the Association is operating within the expectations of the University. • Establish an effective relationship with the Student Activities Office and other University Administrative Departments. • Pursue and Discover Event Opportunities. This includes communicating with organizations including, but not limited to ISGP Staff, Employers, CIS, Informatics, CS, and Beta Alpha Psi • Work with the Advisor to establish high-level goals for the Association. When these goals have been set, work with the Treasurer to establish a budget and appropriate officers for event planning • Coordinate Transition Management

Vice President • Assist the President with the fulfillment of his/her duties • Coordinate and Prepare Meeting Agenda’s • Lead Civic Leadership; identifying, pursuing, and making such opportunities available to all members • Provide support for the development of Association activities planned by the committees • Work with the Treasurer and to establish budgets for committees which are created • Work with other Officers to ensure that the semester goals of the Association are being met

Communications Officer • Keep detailed minutes of all meetings. • Act as Gatekeeper to the MSISA e-mail account as mandated by the E-mail policy • Manage Access Management to the MSISA Oncourse Resources • Maintain website content including, but not limited to Event’s calendar, News, Images, Resources, and Front page content. • Maintaining current e-mail lists, within the MSISA Account, of Active Members, Prospective Students, Active Faculty, Inactive Faculty, Active Alumni, Inactive Alumni • Document all RSVP’s for events • Develop and Coordinate publishing of Association Newsletter • Ensure that all changes of officers are reported to the appropriate University officials.

Treasurer • Keep a record of all financial transactions • Meet with the Advisor on a regular basis to review account balances and financial transactions • Prepare any and all budgets, financial budget requests/appeals, etc. • Working with the Vice-president to establish budgets for committees which are created • Work with the Advisor and President to establish budgets for each Association Officer • Maintain detailed membership records, including the amount of dues collected from each member, also ensuring to keep the Communications Officer up-to-date on membership

Social Networking Officer • Identify and pursue Social Events that are of interest of the members, alumni, and faculty through various mediums of interaction • Plan Association events which includes but is not limited to the following types of events: Member Events, Alumni Events, etc • Work with the Communications Officer to share news about the different events with the Association members • Work with the Vice-President and Treasurer to ensure that cumulative semester events are within budget • Ensure that all events are announced on the Website and revealed to the Communications officer so that information can be communicated to the Association Body in a timely manner

  25. Professional Development Officer • Act as the Association liaison to people and organizations external to Indiana University • The organizations and people for which external networking is need include, but are not limited to Companies and Alumni • Ensure that all events are announced on the Website and revealed to the Communications officer so that information can be communicated to the Association Body in a timely manner • Identify and pursue Professional Development Events that are of interest of the members, alumni, and faculty through various mediums of interaction. This includes, but is not limited to, presentations, dinners, and certification trainings • Coordinate with the President, Vice-President, and Social Networking Officer to further establish external relations
