  13. Critical Function Prototype (C.F.P.) Motivation • Last years model is tight • Ergonomic concerns C.T.F of the Frame

  14. C.F.P. Goals • Find an ergonomic solution • Visually Stimulating • Pass all of the SAE rules • Manufacturability

  15. Lessons from C.F.P. • Cockpit length • Back rest angle • Complexity of manufacture

  16. Refinement of Design • Frame (Modify the angle of front control arm and shock mount). • Frame height requires additional 6”.

  17. Refinement of Design • Transmission using chain drive between gears. • Optimize gear span in torque converter. (acceleration, low end torque and efficiency) • Rear control arms (light, strong, adjustable and stable)

  18. Conclusion • Many items currently modeled in Solidworks • Design revisions under way for frame, control arms, torque converter • Benchmarking continues • On schedule
