1. Commercial Electric Water Heaters • Overview of Standard Hi-Power • Surface Mount • Immersion • Field Conversion Kits • Changes to the Light Duty Electrics

2. Commercial Electric Water Heaters • Nationwide there are approximately 100,000 commercial gas sold every year • Commercial Electrics are approximately 75% of that size or about 75,000 units • Main opportunity is in the retro-fit/replacement; so these are distributor driven products • Commercial Electric water heaters make our offering complete to the distributor • The problem is distributors do not stock many because they never know what kW and/or voltage they will sell from job to job

3. Commercial Electric - Surface Thermostat • 50, 80 or 119 gallon models • Multiple thermostats provide staged temperature control • All individually adjustable with MRHL control • 6 – 54 kW • 13.5 kW 50, 80, or 119 gallon NEW! • 40.5 kW 80 or 119 gallon NEW! • 208V, 240V, and 480V – 3 phase factory wired • 4 to 1 Surface Mount to Immersion sold • Optional UL approved field conversion kits

6. Inside Comparison Bradford-White Lochinvar Rheem/Rudd

7. Differences • Field Conversation Kits • Lochinvar offers kits to change kW and voltage and phase • Rheem/Rudd and Bradford White do not offer • Thermostat for every element • Lochinvar offers an individual thermostat for all elements • Rheem/Rudd offers a single thermostat for a bank of three elements • Bradford-White offers individual thermostat for all elements

16. Field Conversions • All Standard Hi Power Water Heaters Will Come From The Factory With Standard 3 Phase Wiring • Field Conversions Will Be Necessary For A Single Phase Power Supply • When Making These Conversions, You May Have To Change The Buildings Breaker, Fuses, and Wiring Because of Increased Amp Draw

18. Surface Mount and Immersion Thermostat w/ Electronic Controls Optional Field Conversions • Order kit – part numbers inside door of water heater. • Replace existing elements with kit elements – no change to the number of elements is permitted. • Reposition voltage connection on multi-tap transformer – if necessary. • Add new information sticker to existing Rating plate. • Add caution label indicating that water heater has been converted.

21. Field Conversions Ratings Modification Label The ratings modification label is installed over the matching data portion of the existing rating label.

22. Conversions Recommendations These 18 Voltage and Wattage combinations account for 90% of all Commercial Electric sales.

23. Conversions Recommendations If you understand wiring and current draw the list of Conversion Kits can be pared down even smaller. Because the required wire size is the same there is no cost impact for the installer to increase from 24 to 30 kW.

24. Conversions Recommendations In effect, these 14 voltage and wattage combinations can account for 90% of Commercial Electric installations.

25. Conversions Recommendations So, instead of asking the Distributor to carry nearly 50 Conversion Kits in inventory, they can cover 90% of all installations with 11 Conversion Kits and 3 basic stocking models. Now what may have seemed like an inventory nightmare is very manageable and very attractive.

26. Light Duty Commercial • Point of use, tall, and short • 6-120 gallons- Multiple Voltages and Wattages • 3 year warranty/1 year parts • Built to UL1453 standards • “Service Net” policy available for contractors & end users • 1 and 2 element configurations • Field Conversion Kits • Light Duty Commercial units have almost doubled the size of the Commercial Electric Water Heater market about 30,000 units

27. Light Duty Commercial • Looks like a Standard Hi-Power New Style Previous Style

28. Commercial Lt. Duty Electric • UL approved field conversions • Units can be field converted from 3PH to 1PH • Units can be field converted from SIM to Non-SIM

29. Summary of Commercial Electric Water Heaters • The ability of field conversion • Control Panel on the Immersion thermostat unit • Light Duty Commercial a major part of the overall commercial electric water heater market • Light Duty was the biggest change in our commercial electric line from old to new version
