  9. Sex and Education • Women are locked out of education more often than men across the world. • Women receive less education on average than their male counterparts across the globe.

  10. Women’s Status in Society • Wife, Mother, Homemaker = Separate Spheres. • Unequal Human Rights • Unequal Asset Ownership • Unequal Work and Pay

  11. Illiteracy • Illiteracy rates are high in poor societies (about half of all Africans and one-fourth of all Latin Americans can neither read nor write).
