  4. CTE’s Mission To support Loyola Marymount University’s mission of academic excellence by enhancing the teaching and learning process through a wide range of services to all who teach at LMU.

  5. CTE’s Goals • To help new faculty achieve excellent teaching • To foster dialog in the University on teaching excellence • To provide faculty with support mechanisms to enhance teaching/learning • To disseminate pedagogical and curricular innovations

  6. What does CTE offer? • Workshops and presentations on topics related to teaching and learning (lunch included) • See the calendar of events • Conversations on teaching–related issues (refreshments included) • Teaching Evaluation • The Core

  7. What does CTE offer? • Resource library of videotapes, books, journals on a variety of teaching topics • A Book Club later this year • Videotaping of faculty class presentations to improve teaching techniques

What does CTE offer? • Support for teaching-related programs and initiatives • Mentor for Mission • 2nd year faculty pedagogy workshops • Academic Technology Showcase • Scholarship of Teaching/Learning (SoTL) brown bag lunches • One-on-one consultation • Pedagogical interests or concerns • SoTL projects

  9. What does CTE offer? • Funding of innovations in teaching SoTL grants • Examples • Using Peer Evaluation to enhance writing skills in a core class • Implementation of a team teaching approach to improve student term projects • Active Learning Strategies in Introductory Physics
