  2. 11/06/13 • Proceed with CS-4701 projects, even if you have not heard yet. Proposals are generally good as is. Will mail only if modifications are needed. • TA mailing list CS4700-STAFF-L@list.cornell.edu Still use CS-4700 in subject line! Also, some fixed Ph.D. TA hours on web for questions about grading etc.

  5. 10/21/13 • Midterm: Material up-to-and-including Constraint Satisfaction 1) See lecture slides on web. 2) Study sections in R&N. 3) Consider hkw problems and solns. • Midterm: closed book but 1 two-sided sheet of notes allowed.

  6. 10/21/13 • Note: Piazza is not used in this course. • Hwks can be discussed in small groups (2 or 3 students) but not on bulletin boards (200+ students; that’s “crowdsourcing.”). • 25 to 40% of difficulty in answering hwks is understanding what is being asked! (in office hours: students generally discover answers themselves.) • Hwks are to practice this for midterm and exam.
