Background • 17 miles of I-15 reconstruction completed in time for the 2002 Olympics • 600 N to 10600 S • Design/Build contract with Pavement marking warranty attached • Contractor-Epoplex • Time-8 years (4 years initially with 4 year extension) • Material-Epoxy was a result of the contractor’s proposal to change from tape • Measures-Retroreflectivity & Presence AASHTO Subcommittee on Maintenance Louisville, KY

Status • Bid open in August • Too late to start work • Will start next spring • Good • Will allow better planning and scheduling • Will extend the 5 year warranty to 2017 • Condition of existing epoxy on I-15 is pretty good • Requires some minimal touch-up with waterborne to get through the winter • Interested to see what products and prices are bid: • We think: • Epoxy, or • Modified urethane ,or • Polyurea, or • A combination • Unique • Had previous warranty contracts via change order but this is the first time to solicit bids for only a pavement marking warranty scope • First time federal IM funds used for pavement markings AASHTO Subcommittee on Maintenance Louisville, KY
