  1. Allied Health Outreach & Workforce Development Neosho County Community College

  2. The delivery of high quality health care has become very complex, and it relies on a diverse team of health professionals. Some on this team-such as physicians, nurses, pharmacists- are familiar to the public; others are less known. Most of these less known providers are in a category called Allied Health Professionals. Neosho County Community College offers several Allied Health classes for people interested in entering the healthcare field.

  3. Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) This course prepares students to gain entry level employment at a long term care facility. It includes a study of the aging process and its related conditions and the nursing skill required in assisting geriatric residents to reach and maintain their highest level of wellness consistent with the limitations imposed by the aging process. Students will take a state certification exam upon completion. Part of the Health Occupations Patient Care Track Available Online

  4. Certified Medication Aide (CMA) This course includes the study of medications and their physiological effect on the body. Emphasis will be placed on the identification and abbreviations of drugs, weights and measures, and procedures used in dispensing medication. Students will take a State certification exam upon completion. Part of the Health Occupations Patient Care Track Available Online

  5. CMA Update This course provides students with a review of the basic principles and skills of medication administration for oral and external application. Elderly biological considerations, over medication/drug abuse, drug and food interactions, and legal and ethical issues will be reviewed. Available Online

  6. Restorative Aide The course is designed to train students to deliver effective and efficient rehabilitative care of residents in nursing homes and rehabilitative hospitals under the direction of a Registered Physical Therapist or Registered Occupational Therapists. Students will learn how to promote the patient to achieve his/her potential physically, socially, psychologically, and vocationally.

  7. Home Health Aide (HHA) HHA focuses on the role and responsibilities of an aide within the home setting, with emphasis on maintaining safe, healthy home environment. Providing a personal care regimen which meets the needs of the client is also discussed. Students will take a State certification exam upon completion. Available Online

  8. Community CPR This course trains students in first aid for choking as well as in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, infants, and children. Students also learn how to properly operate an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).

  9. Basic Life Support Basic Life Support, also known as Professional Rescue, instructs students in two-rescuer CPR, modified airway management skills, and the use of a resuscitation mask.
