First, a definition (thanks,thefreedictionary.com/). • Improvisational theatre (also known as improv) is a form of theatre in which the improvisational actors/improvisers use various acting techniques to perform spontaneously. Improvisers typically use audience suggestions to guide the performance as they create dialogue, setting, and plot extemporaneously. No rehearsals – they just make it up on the spot!

  3. They started out as exercises and games to help create things in rehearsals but then people began to notice that many of these games could be entertaining to audiences as well. Many famous actors have use improv training to help develop their performances (think Saturday Night Live) and many have gone on to specialize in improv performance (think Whose Line Is It Anyway?)

  4. Famous Actors Who Have Studied Improv The many casts ofSaturdayNight Live and many Comedy Central stars have studied improv, including such comedy stars as Mike Myers, Tina Fey, Bob Odenkirk, Amy Sedaris, Stephen Colbert, Eugene Levy, Steve Carell, Chris Farley, Dan Akroyd and John Belushi.
