  1. 1301 Writing assignment 4Analysis: Letter From A Birmingham Jail Analyze this statement from Martin Luther King’s “Letter From A Birmingham Jail” King quotes St. Augustine when he says “I would be the first to advocate obeying just laws. One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. I would agree with St. Augustine that "an unjust law is no law at all." Analyze how and why Dr. King uses this statement to drive his point home during his incarceration in Birmingham. Show how he uses statements before and after the quotation that bring his entire message together with great clarity. Because his letter is a rebuttal it will be possible to use the statement from the eight clergy men to help support your response. Your essay must be a minimum of three pages long and address the prompt completely as discussed in class. Your essay must be in MLA Format and conform to all the formal rules of writing. Please remember the point value of this essay and seek appropriate help if needed.
