  1. Rom. 1:16-17

  2. Sharing The Gospel Lesson 2: Personal Preparation Intro: Winning souls to Christ is not by physical force. Rather it involves thoughts, knowledge (2 Cor. 10:5) & moral persuasion (2 Cor. 5:11). I. FACING MY EXCUSES A. “I’m too busy.”This means that we are too selfish & stingy with our time to assist others in going to heaven (Lk. 14:15-20; 10:25-37). B. “I’m helping pay the preacher.” Can you pay someone to worship God for you? Some things are our own responsibility (Eph. 4:16; Phil. 2:12-16).

  3. Sharing The Gospel Lesson 2: Personal Preparation I. FACING MY EXCUSES C. “No One Is Interested.”This Is not true. Nor is it our responsibility. We are to plant & water & let God give the increase (1 Cor. 3:6-8). D. “I’ve tried & it didn’t work.” Just imagine if the Lord had had this attitude (Mt. 23:27; Jn. 10:18). E. “I don’t know enough of the Bible. I can’t remember Scriptures.” This reflects upon YOU. Do you devote yourself to daily Bible study (2 Tim. 2:15; Ezra 7:10)?

  4. Sharing The Gospel Lesson 2: Personal Preparation I. FACING MY EXCUSES F. “I’m just not good at talking to people about religion.” No one is good at talking with people about something in which they have no interest. Can you tell people what you did to be saved? Can you show them the Scriptures? (Cp. Ex. 4:10-12). II. DEVELOPING PROPER QUALITIES A. Philip (Acts 6:3). 1. Able to teach crowds & individuals (Acts 8:26-40). 2. “Of good report” – known for practicing what he preached (1 Pet. 2:12; 1 Tim. 4:16). 3. “Full of the Spirit” – Truth (Phil. 2:5; Rom. 12:3). 4. “Wisdom” – Makes proper application (Col. 4:5).

  5. Sharing The Gospel Lesson 2: Personal Preparation II. DEVELOPING PROPER QUALITIES B. Peter & “fishers of men” (Lk. 5:1-11). 1. Using our possessions for Jesus (v. 3). 2. Aware of our sins & the joy of forgiveness (v. 8, 10, Ps. 51:12-13). 3. Put Jesus before earthly interest (v. 11). III. OVERCOMING FEAR A. Transfer desire for approval from earth to heaven (Col. 3:1-2; Gal. 1:10). 1. Hindered by what others think (Jn. 12:42-43). 2. Not fearing what men MAY do (Heb. 13:5-6).

  6. Sharing The Gospel Lesson 2: Personal Preparation IV. DEVELOPING CONFIDENCE A. Attitudes are simply habits of thought. 1. If our thoughts are right, our attitudes & actions will be right (Pr. 23:7; Pr. 4:23). B. It is said that our minds work like a computer… it produces what is ‘programmed” into it. C. Study Joshua 1:5-9; Rom. 8:35-39; Phil. 4:11-13; 1 Tim. 4:13-16. What attitudes should we cultivate here & how will they help us work for the Lord? CONCL. Accept the fact that God is with those who serve Him. Cultivate the proper attitudes.
