Surah al Baqarah. Ayahs 153 – 162. Ayah 153 O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient. إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ. Allah is with people with His knowledge. Allah is with believers with His Help & Support.

  2. Ayah 153 O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.

  3. إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ Allah is with people with His knowledge Allah is with believers with His Help & Support

  4. Du’a of Rasool Allah (s.a.w)

  5. When the world pushes you to your knees, your are in the perfect position to pray. Unknown

  6. The shortest distance between a problem and its solution is the distance between your knees and the floor. The one who kneels to Allah can stand up to anything. Unknown

  7. Psychology Connection • DELAYED GRATIFICATION – ability to resist the temptation for an earlier reward and wait for a reward later on (Self-Control) • In our brain, we have the reward circuitry and when we control ourselves from acting on our emotions, this benefits our behaviour in life

  8. LESSONS • SABR does NOT mean being passive • Be active, get help, keep doing what you’re doing and ALSO ask for Allah’s help without complaining or haste

  9. Ayah 154 And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah , "They are dead." Rather, they are alive, but you perceive [it] not.

  10. Martyr. [mahr-ter] - noun The one who is killed while exalting, elevating the name of Allah., not for some reward or award

  11. Taken from Ahadith al Rasool(s.a.w)

  12. Ayah 155 And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient.

  13. المَصَائِب الخَمْسَة Five Trials

  14. وَبَشِّرِ الصَّابِرِينَ Who are they? In the time of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, disease, reduction in profitsor children, the one who is patient and does not utter any negative words.

  15. Ayah 156 Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah , and indeed to Him we will return."

  16. Behavior of a Sabir

Saying upon remembering a calamity The Prophet s.a.w said , "If any Muslim man or woman suffers a calamity and keeps it in his memory, even if it happened a long time ago, saying each time it is remembered, "Inna lillahiwainnailaihiraji'un" ('We belong to Allah and to Him do we return,') Allah, who is Blessed and Exalted will give a fresh reward each time it is said, equivalent to the reward when it happened." (Tirmidhi, Ahmad and Bayhaqi)

  18. Abu Talha(r.a)’sExample And we all know the famous incidence about the companion Abu Talha and his wife when one of the sons died and Abu Talha was not at home. She washed and shrouded him and when Abu Talha came home and asked about his son, she said, 'The child is quiet and I hope he is in peace….' (Bukhari)

  19. Ayah 157 Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided.

  21. Four Levels of Patience

  22. Ayah 158 Indeed, as-Safa and al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allah . So whoever makes Hajj to the House or performs 'umrah - there is no blame upon him for walking between them. And whoever volunteers good - then indeed, Allah is appreciative and Knowing.

  23. 1 Good Deed =

  24. Ayah 159 Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance after We made it clear for the people in the Scripture - those are cursed by Allah and cursed by those who curse

  25. "Those who conceal something (a religious truth) that they know when asked about it will have a bridle of fire put on them on the Day of Resurrection" (Abu Dawud; At-Tirmidhi)

  26. LESSONS • Share what you are learning with others  • Don’t be upset if people start asking you a lot of questions since you’ve started this course • If there is more than 1 opinion about a matter, or different interpretations, don’t hide the knowledge

  27. Ayah 160 Except for those who repent and correct themselves and make evident [what they concealed]. Those - I will accept their repentance, and I am the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.

  28. Ayah 161 Indeed, those who disbelieve and die while they are disbelievers - upon them will be the curse of Allah and of the angels and the people, all together.

  29. LESSONS • If you have been living for just this world, then all your deeds will be left for this world • Take account of your bank balance for the Hereafter • Repent when you still have the chance  • Repentance NOT accepted at the time of death

  30. Ayah 162 Abiding eternally therein. The punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved.

  31. We Learn.... The one who denies Allah’s existence, His attributes, His messengers, His books, will have a severe punishment. Curse of Allah

  32. Allah’s Mercy is available to all of us, Muslims and non-Muslims, so take advantage of that before you are removed far from His Mercy
