  3. Microsoft Campus Agreement • OSU’s Microsoft Campus Agreement renews on 6/30/2016 • We are looking at potential add-ons • Project/Visio • System Center (full suite) • Advanced Threat Protection (unlikely at current cost) • Student Option licensing will remain in place, as is our Azure commit ($60k)

  4. Microsoft Select Agreement • OSU’s Microsoft Select Agreement expires on 6/30/2016 • If we wish to change resellers, we must do it soon. • Insight is the current reseller • Dell is the other awarded reseller • Comments regarding either vendor are welcome • You will have to plan to renew Software Assurance and MSDN accounts when the agreement expires.

  5. Adobe CC for Students & DPS • Adobe Agreement changes are on hold at this time • We are continuing discussions • Tech Hub has not made progress getting the Home Use product available yet.

  6. Upcoming Renewals • Nvivo • Expiration Date: June 22 • Hard fail: (on or about) July 22 • xWin • Expiration Date: June 31 • Hard fail: June 31 • Parallels • May not renew

  7. Parallels • OSU Purchasing is looking to retire Parallels from our service offering • Purchases are a fraction of what is expected • Activations are more than expected • The license does not pay for itself • Pricing would have to go from $34/copy to $90/copy • The software is cheaper on Amazon and at TechHub

  8. Parallels • If we do not renew maintenance on this, we will turn off current subscriptions in a month or two (likely end of May) • We are not yet certain what the effect would be, but we assume the copies will cease functioning when turned off.

  9. Parallels Retirement:Alternative Options • OARnet’s VMWare contract includes Fusion at $48.10/copy, and $16.25/year for Service and Support • Parallels is available through TechHub at $39.99 (no maintenance) and can be ordered through eRequest • Also available through eStores for about $63, or $99 for Enterprise edition

  10. Internal Review of SLS Downloads • We are reviewing software for possible removal, based on usage • Candidates include: • MT Newswatcher (Mac) • MATLAB for Sun • Sophos AntiVirus Home Use (Mac) • RealPlayer • Stuffit Expander (Mac) • TurningPoint • BadCopy Pro (Win: conversion to SLSC only)

  11. Possible Site License: Lynda.com • Current Spend: • About $54k for 193 seats • Site-wide cost • About $90-110k for unlimited seats • Usage is broad-based • Current terms are not favorable • One-off purchases have no buying power

  12. Possible Site License: Lynda.com • Other IUC Schools mostly use Atomic Learning • Miami • Wright State • Kent State • Shawnee State • Akron • University of Cincinnati uses Lynda.com

  13. Possible Site License: ExamSoft • ExamSoft offered pricing is as follows: • $8/student/year at 30,000 users • Support separate • Purchasing sent out a notice to interested departments in mid-January with pricing details based on FTE spend • Responses did not provide go-ahead with full funding for this license • Purchasing is re-evaluating FTE-based models.

  14. Possible Site License: Tableau • At this time, we’re not planning to add this into the general package for next FY, but are pursuing options • Up to almost $90k already FY16 • Qualtrics has an add-in for this product as well

  15. OSU Purchasing IT Update • Purchasing is restricting new Learning Management System purchases, per OCIO • Bids in flight now • ERP bid was awarded to Workday. • Vulnerability Management bid was awarded to Tenable • Online Proctoring Pilot bid is pending award • Autosys Batch Processing bid is pending award
