  1. Timetabling Scheduling Parameters

  2. Scheduling Parameters • Scheduling Parameters are CRN (section) specific Parameters on the system. • Examples include: • Groups – CRNs/Deliveries meeting same time, same room, same instructor(s) • Block Offs – setup/teardown time for labs • Ties • Deliveries meet on different days or with a day in between • CRNs (same course) scheduled on different days • Lecture before Lab (same course)

  3. Scheduling Parameters • Scheduling Parameters do not include instructor availability. • Instructor availability will be provided by the chair.

  4. Scheduling Parameters: Examples • The section must meet at an off-pattern time because it requires additional time for setup and teardown of equipment. • The section must meet at an off-pattern time because the students need to warm up and cool down after dancing. • Section 001 must be scheduled back-to-back with Section 007 in the same room because the instructor has a mobility issue and cannot move from room to room easily. • The lecture delivery of this section must be scheduled before the lab delivery. • The section must meet during the day because it relies on daylight for surveying activities.

  5. Timetabling: Simulation • Scheduling parameters will be entered via the DCU as time and room requirements while you are completing your data entry for Spring 2011 schedule build. • No other changes are required for simulation.

  6. Time Requirements: Simulation Example

  7. Room Requirements

  8. Timetabling: Production • Once the process is ready for production (tentatively in April 2011 for Spring 2012 schedule build), pattern requests will be entered. Days/times will not be entered. • Priority/Exclusive Room Usage governed by Principles of Timetabling. • Co-scheduling remains unchanged.

  9. Timetabling: Pattern Request Example

  10. Timetabling: Questions ?
