The Hero Who Died • What characteristics do most heroes have in common? - a Villain to fight - a Crisis to deal with - a Battle to fight - someone to Rescue - courageously faces Death - has unique skills or abilities (super powers) - does the Right thing, is Good - many depend on the Hero coming through and winning in the end

  8. The Hero Who Died • Jesus is THE Hero that all the other heroes point to (and wish they could be!) • If Jesus is the ultimate, REAL Hero, why did he have to die?

  15. The Hero Who Died. . .But Didn’t Stay Dead! • Jesus defeats Satan, Sin, & Death • You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ. He forgave all our sins. He canceled the record that contained the charges against us. He took it and destroyed it by nailing it to Christ's cross. In this way, God disarmed the evil rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross of Christ. (Colossians 2:13-15)
