Mark Burnett created a show called Survivor • The show premiered on CBS in May 2000 • The reality show was based on a Swedish TV series “Expedition Robinson” based off the 1812 book “Swiss Family Robinson” • 16 players are stranded on a deserted island and split into two teams (“tribes”) • They compete in challenges for supplies, food and immunity • Members of the tribes vote each other off the island • The last person standing wins $1M

  3. Jeff Probst is the host of the TV show in the US and is also an executive producer • The show gave Jeff the idea for a young adult book series called “Stranded” • There are three books in the series: “Stranded”, “Stranded 2: Trial by Fire” and “Stranded 3: Survivors”
