The moisture rise by the method of capillary effect i.e. water is soaked up by the walls same as sponge soaks up the water. • The main reason of Rising Damp is poor drainage system or rain penetration. 3. The 3 Most Common Types of Damps

  4. Rising Damp • Rising Damp is caused by travelling the water up in the walls. If you found the patches on the wall and yellowish line in the lower area of your wall above the skirting board, this is the sign that you may have rising damp in your wall. Every wall is likely to retain water because of the poor drainage system cause of which the rain water easily stuck in and rise the problem

  5. Penetrating Damp Penetrating Damp is caused by the water leaking through the walls and not by the water rising. This is caused by the structural problems in the building such as defective roofing or a leaking rainwater pipe. It normally presents in your external walls that forms patches and gradually increases after periods of heavy rain.

  6. Condensation Damp It is the most common type of the damp. It is normally caused by the wet air that enters the walls and windows. Mostly it happens in the rooms that have lots of moisture like kitchens and bathrooms. Well it mostly happens during the winter season because the temperature difference between the walls and the air surrounding them is much greater than during the summer.

  7. Rising Damp Treatment • Rising Damp can be treated using the Damp Proof Course in which a barrier is inserted in the building to stop the water passing from one place to another. • Another method to damp proof our home is damp proof course injection. It is done by drilling series of holes in the wall and injecting them with the high and low pressure water repellent fluid that in turn form a barrier. Or you can choose an expert for the process.
