  1. LRI Success Metrics:Long Term Approach for Measuring Success This long term approach is outlined in order to evaluate the success of the Laboratory Results Interface Initiative outputs (standards, implementation guides and conformance tests). The evaluation will be conducted for the next two years from the first Implementation; however, only the second year’s data will be used to measure success. The areas listed below are the proposed actions for the S&I Framework to follow in order to conduct an effective analysis. • Other Suggested Actions • Additional Questions Will Be Added to the Information Interviews to Gather More Information • Re-evaluate Original Informational Interview Participants • Coordinate with CLIA to incorporate the utilization of the LRI outputs as part of the evaluation criteria. • Seek out EHR Vendors, LIS Vendors, Providers & Laboratories to determine the percentage of new installs that utilize the LRI outputs. • Reach out to Committed LRI members to determine their utilization of the LRI Outputs. • Are the LRI outputs (standards, implementation guides and conformance tests) being utilized? If not, which standard is being utilized? • What is the average cost and time for implementing a results interface utilizing the new implementation guide? • What percentage of new installs utilize the LRI outputs? • When did you start utilizing the LRI Outputs? • Informational Interviews will be re-conducted. • The same questions will be asked to determine the time and cost to develop a new results only laboratory interface. • Only data from the second year will be considered for measuring success. • Assumptions: • The first year will be devoted to R&D Efforts. • The same EHR/LIS Vendors will be re-interviewed; since the previously interviewed labs and provider practices will already have had a pre-existing lab interface. We will interview similar labs and providers who have used the new LRI outputs to develop their lab interfaces.

  2. LRI Success Metrics:Long Term Approach for Measuring Success In order to further evaluate the success of the LRI initiative, forums will be created utilizing the wiki to help the community share experiences with the LRI Outputs. • Develop forum on wiki where those community members can share their experience with usage of LRI Implementation Guides and Specifications. • This forum can also be used for implementers to track their progress and raise issues if necessary. • Based on the activity of this forum we will also be able to determine the level of adoption and success of the LRI initiative.
