  2. Temple Sheckles Available In The Hallway! Romans 3:1 What advantage then hath the Jew? Or what profit is thereof circumcision? 2 Much in every way!

  3. PENING low the Shofar 3 3 3 3

  4. PENING Why do we blow the Shofar? Exodus 19:16 “On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and there was the sounding of a very loud SHOFAR blast. Everyone in the camp trembled.” Because this is the way G-D begins sacred assemblies 4 4 4 4

  5. Announcements Thank you all for your financial support! Questions have been asked concerning tithes. This is the principle… One pays tithes to where they’re learning the most about G-d! Wherever that is, that’s where you’re being “fed”. It’s not paying tithes to where the best potluck is… That’s called a “Restaurant”.

  6. Announcements It’s not paying tithes to where your best, closest and oldest relationships are… That’s called “Social club/network dues”. Paying tithes isn’t using money saved up to make that “missionary trip” to the Philippines… That’s called “Vacation savings”. Doesn’t matter if you’re teaching a Sunday School there.

  7. Announcements Paying tithes isn’t giving time/furniture/food and/or money above and beyond tithes to those in need… That’s called “offerings” When you buy something from the Beit Aveinu Judaica Store (Mezuzahs, Tzit Tzits, Menorahs, books etc) That’s called “purchasing”. If you purchase something from our store INSTEAD of paying tithes you’re actually costing us rather then helping us.

  8. Announcements Paying tithes is 10% of your net income to where you’re being fed. No loopholes! Not doing so is robbing G-d. Malachi 3 8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

  9. Announcements If one pays their tithes, G-d will bless them. Teresa and I also pay tithes. It doesn’t stop with the Rabbi. Torah Light also pays tithes, it goes all the way up the ladder. Without tithes the Synagogue can not function the way it was designed. Without tithes the Temple wouldn’t have functioned properly. It’s really that simple.

  10. Announcements Pay your tithes. Don’t do it for me or my family, do it for yourself and for G-d. Also remember we now pay rent for this classroom. That money goes to WFA. Any tithes you pay here partially goes to WFA now.

  26. EX 25: 1-9 KJV Exodus 25:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering. 3 And this is the offering which ye shall take of them; gold, and silver, and brass, 4 And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair,

  27. EX 25: 1-9 5 And rams' skins dyed red, and (badgers)' skins, and shittim wood, 6 Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense, 7 Onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod, and in the breastplate. 8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. 9 According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.

  28. I Kings 5 KJV 1 Kings 5:1 And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David. 2 And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying, 3 Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.

  29. I Kings 5 4 But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent. 5 And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name. 6 Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians.

  30. I Kings 5 7 And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people. 8 And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: and I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir. 9 My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.

  31. I Kings 5 10 So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire. 11 And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year. 12 And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together. 13 And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.

  32. I Kings 5 14 And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home: and Adoniram was over the levy. 15 And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains; 16 Beside the chief of Solomon's officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work. 17 And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house. 18 And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house. END

  33. Mark 10 32 And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him, 33 Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles: 34 And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again. 35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.

  34. Mark 10 36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you? 37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory. 38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? 39 And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:

  35. Mark 10 40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared. 41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John. 42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. 43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:

  36. Mark 10 44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. 45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. 46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

  37. Mark 10 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. 48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. 49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. 50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. 51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. 52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way. END

  42. In our New Testament portion we read about how Yeshua would be delivered to the Chief Priests and the Scribes. Today we’re going to find out who the “Scribes” were. The Rebbe’s ParshaWord Study/Topical

  43. There’s various ideas put out there by Bible School teachers concerning who the Scribes were and what their function was. The Rebbe’s Parsha Word Study/Topical

  44. Most say that they were simply “writers”. Others say they were learned men (scholars) not even necessarily Biblical scholars. The Rebbe’s Parsha Word Study/Topical

  45. Many New Testament teachers paint them at best as dolts, not very educated at all and at worst, they’re described as out-dated copyists. The Rebbe’s Parsha Word Study/Topical

  46. So today I want to share with you who they really were. Some of these descriptions I just gave are partially true. The Rebbe’s Parsha Word Study/Topical

  47. But for the Messianic, partial truth isn’t good enough. Scribe in Hebrew is “Sofer”. It comes from the word, “Book”. The Rebbe’s Parsha Word Study/Topical

  48. The plural form of Sofer is Soferim (Scribes). In Hebrew it has more then one meaning. The English word “Scribe” can not cover all it’s nuances. The Rebbe’s Parsha Word Study/Topical

  49. The word is only understood within it’s context. Context is one of the hermeneutical rules we covered in the Talmud series. The Rebbe’s Parsha Word Study/Topical

  50. Context is the key. So lets look at some various passages in Scripture so we can get a better idea of what a scribe was. The Rebbe’s Parsha Word Study/Topical
