  1. Elementary Scheduling Information Technology Services Presented by Beverly Young

  2. Overview • Students’ schedules must be ready for instructional applications to be available on the first day of school • Electronic Gradebook • Student Performance Indicators (SPI) • Instructional Applications such as Riverdeep and FCAT Explorer.

  3. Overview School Benefits from Manual Scheduling • Schools control the availability of their files • Fewer mistakes as the information is entered correctly up front • Allows schools time to analyze: • FCAT Scores • Third Grade Retentions/Good Cause Promotions • ESOL and ESE testing/placement

  4. Overview Benefits to Schools (continued) • Correct student data will be available for • Gradebook • SPI • Instructional Applications (FCAT Explorer, Riverdeep, etc) • Elimination of staff frustration due to incorrect class information

  5. Scheduling Preparation • Schools should keep Class Size requirements in mind as new classes are being established • PK – 3 18 • 4 – 8 22 • Schools not meeting Class Size in 2006-07 must decrease by 2 or meet Class Size caps for 2007-08

  6. Scheduling Preparation • Identification of Co-teacher teams • At least one member of the team must have at least 3 years of teaching experience • At least one member of the teams must be teaching in field. • The teachers must be trained in team-teaching methods within 1 year after assignment.

  7. ITS Actions • Future Grade Level Assigned - April 13th - students in K, 1, 2, 4 were assigned future grade levels. Students in grade 3 will be updated with future grade and Good Cause Codes as soon as the files become available. • April 13th, ITS created: • Course Sequences for all subjects in grades K – 5 • 10 Sections for each course sequence • Printed and mailed • Course Teacher Assignment Worksheets • Students Program Assignment Worksheets • Elementary Programs Title Listing (Kindergarten programs have been modified for the 2007-08 school year.)

  8. School Action • Enter students into homeroom sections. Homeroom section will also be the Teacher number (3 character code) • Future Homeroom Information Change screen has been modified • Enter teacher information on Course Record Screen (Course Teacher Assignment Worksheet) • Room Number • Teacher’s Employee Number • Teacher’s Number (same as homeroom section) • Teacher’s name

  9. School Action • Enter students into academic programs. (Student Academic Program Assignment Worksheet) • Enter Homeroom Teacher’s employee number and room number on the Student Information screen (PF3)

  10. Homeroom Course • Homeroom courses must be completed in order to program the students: • 0001 Kindergarten • 1001 First Grade • 2001 Second Grade • 3001 Third Grade • 4001 Fourth Grade • 5001 Fifth Grade • 6001 Sixth Grade • Course will be used to record daily school attendance in the Electronic Gradebook.

  11. Timelines • Rollover begins at 5:00 p.m. on August 1, 2007. ISIS will be unavailable until Monday, August 6, 2007. • Students must be assigned homeroom sections by 5:00 p.m. on August 1 to have Student Data and Attendance Cards sorted by alpha/grade/homeroom. • The Master and Student schedules may be completed before or after Rollover. • Student scheduling should be completed by the time teachers return for information to be available from SPI and for classes to be available in the Electronic Gradebook.

Co – Teaching for Grade Reporting • On the Course Record screen (PF9) • Enter the employee number/room number for the Primary Teacher • Add a hyphen and the Co-Teacher’s name to the end of the Primary Teacher’s name. • All student in co-taught classes must have the employee number of the Primary Teacher on PF3 • Only the Primary Teacher will have access to the class files in the Gradebook
