Do it like you’re 40 years in the future!
Not what I meant! This talk is about Decisions
Not what I meant! Life after college?
Job? Where? Portugal? Big Corp? International? Startup? PhD? Independence? Freelance? Money? Responsibility? Make a difference? Ambition? Family? Save the world? Am I normal? Good life? Confort? F***! What will I do? Not what I meant!
‘Who I am’ is a (very) complex and ever changing equation. But, in the end, it’s mostly what we do (or don’t do), our decisions
This is me, trying to make a decision
#1 Hear others, decide for yourself
#2 Follow your heart, always be better
#3 It’s always possible to change (don’t be a coherency corpse)
#4 Do it like you’re 40 years in the future
More simply, if spaghetti then always ask yourself: If I was x+40 years from now, what would I like to have decided (and done) now?
Well, that’s pretty much it. Simple, eh?
Not what I meant! 1 2 3 4 5 6 n And now, for something completely different, a Tale of Decisions and Personal Lessons in 6 steps (no, not the AA 6 steps)

2. Run for office, yes or no? And the studies?
Not what I meant! Put yourself on the line and try to make a difference My personal lesson#2
3. 1st job, where to?

to what ? Should I stay or should I go?
Not what I meant! You are your worst enemy Differentiate Don’t jail yourself My personal lessons#5
6. 35, 2 kids, family, good ‘job’. Startup again?
Not what I meant! Don’t assume you know it Don’t just get old, get young too It’s not for all :) My personal lessons#6
Future? 7. Will you still need me when I’m 64?
In a Nutshell Not what I meant! • Decisions are spaghetti • Hear others, decide for yourself • Follow your heart, always be better • It’s always possible to change • Do it like you’re 40 years in the future
