  3. Arrangements for Supplementary Nutrition Three tier system has been adopted for procurement. State Level: • Wheat and rice are procured from Govt. of India at subsidized rates. • Double Fortified Salt is procured through National Small Industries Corporation. • Three types of edible oils are procured through HAFED.   4. Cont… Arrangements for Supplementary Nutrition District Level: • Other items of dry ration are procured by District Level Purchase Committee headed by concerned ADCs. Village Level: • Perishable items are procured at village level by Self Help Group members.

  5. Quality Control • Inspection Committees at District level constituted under the chairpersonship of respective ADCs & DFSC, DPOs / WCDPOs as members. • Village Level Committees constituted at village level headed by women Panches or Sarpanches. • Instructions issued to DPOs to get the lab. test of food items periodically after taking random samples which have shelf life of more than 15 days. • Instructions/checklist of Do’s / Don’ts while preparing supplementary nutrition circulated to all the DPOs.

State Funded Innovations and Facilities • Attractive and child friendly, colourful tables and chairs to 15125 Anganwadis worth Rs. 17.65 crore. • A set of three colourful swings in 12875 AWCs worth Rs. 7.75 crore. • Storage Bins to store food grains in all AWCs worth Rs. 6.55 crore. • 12722 AWCs have been provided Gas Connection worth Rs. 3.82 crore. • Provision of mobile phones @ Rs. 1500 and monthly recurring charges @ Rs. 300/ month/ per supervisor worth Rs. 27.15 lac. Cont… State Funded Innovations and Facilities • Provision of establishment of circle offices of Supervisors. • A joint survey carried with Deptt. of Public Health for providing piped drinking water in AWCs: - • 12612 Anganwadis to be covered upto 31.03.2014 • Joint field surveys carried with Development and Panchayats to construct child friendly toilet in AWCs: - • 11162 toilets will be constructed upto 31.03.201 • Monitoring of Construction of AWCs through GPS System – in district Rohtak & Jhajjar.

IEC Outreach and Community Participation • Village Level Sub-Committees of women to facilitate implementation of programmes pertaining to development of women and children. • Sakshar Mahila Samooh generate awareness on key issues of sex ratio, literacy, universalisation of elementary education, health and nutrition, opportunities for economic empowerment of women, hygiene sanitation and environment and ICDS scheme. • Awareness through a mixed media approach which include radio jingles, posters, wall painting and print and electronic advertisements.

  10. Combating Malnutrition 1. Nutrition Awards instituted since 2006-07 under which awards are given to three best districts who have shown improvement in nutritional status of children • 1st prize @ Rs. 2 lac, • 2nd prize @ Rs.1 lac • 3rd prize @ Rs. 50 thousands. 2. Improving Infant &Young Child Feeding Scheme : • Started from 2005-06 under which training for ICDS functionaries, SHGs/SMS members is conducted. • Awareness generation on IYCF by print and electronic media is done. • A provision of Rs 20 lac has been made during current Financial Year.   11. Cont… Combating Malnutrition 3. Best Mother Award Scheme : Instituted since 2005-06 to encourage mothers to proper rearing of their children. Three best mothers having at least one girl child are awarded . * At Block level. • 1st prize Rs. 1000/- • 2nd prize Rs. 750/- • 3rd prizes Rs. 500/- * At circle level • 1st prize Rs. 500/- • 2nd prize Rs. 300/- • 3rd prize Rs. 200/-
