Time 31 to 59 past the hour. Once you are past «  half past  » the hour (31 minutes or more) you have to do a bit of math. In French, you don’t say « 4: 50». You say « 10 til 5 ». You have to figure out how many minutes UNTIL the next hour .

  1. Time 31 to 59 past the hour Once you are past « halfpast » the hour (31 minutes or more) you have to do a bit of math. In French, youdon’tsay « 4: 50». You say « 10 til 5 ». You have to figure out how many minutes UNTIL the nexthour. Basically, you round up to the nexthour and subtract minutes.
