  1. Project Charity-Board Jerry Lee

  2. Mission Statement • Project C-B was made with the democratic sense that the student body would be able to choose where their money would go to. • Many people, when donating to charities, blindly choose who to give without giving enough thought into where the money will go to. • The voting process of Project C-B lets the donors decide where to donate, and give thought into what they pick and how they are helping the world become a better place.

  3. The Voting Process • In the end, we came up with fourteen dollars. • The ASPCA had the most votes, so we sent all fourteen dollars to them. • The other charities available to vote for were • “The Smile Train” and “Feed the Children.” • Quote Mr. Stroud: “..but I don’t like to feed children, especially at eighth grade lunch!” (It’s supposed to be a joke)

  4. About the ASPCA • The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was created "to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States." • They also establish many animal hospitals around the United States and provide assistance for the general population’s care for their own personal pets. • The ASPCA is also “notorious” for being very active in lobbying for animal welfare laws. Illinois Senate passed the bill HB 5076 under the influence of the ASPCA; the bill provided protection for animal rescuers against suing for helping an animal during natural disasters and/or other emergencies.

  5. …and what comes from all of this? • It was a gratifying experience to see how many people were so generous to the cause. The world really does have many generous people willing to donate to charitable places. It’s nice to know that people care for animals as much as they care for themselves. • …It seems people care more about animals than other people. (A joke!)

  6. Credits • http://www.aspca.org/ • http://www.smiletrain.org • http://www.feedthechildren.org • Charity Navigator for helping us find which ones to pick (not easy) • The people at Cans for Charity for graciously rejecting my first idea • …and everyone who donated to the cause!
