Implications for Teacher Librarians • Prescriptive – What must be taught and learned in all schools across Australia • Evolutionary – constantly changing (v3.0 23 January 2012) • Malleable - Consultation • Geography consultation just finished • Technology shape paper just released • Redefines and gives focus to the Teacher Librarian’s role • Equal responsibility with rest of the teaching team • Leadership of it fits with TL Role Statement responsibility • Skills base consistent with inquiry learning • Digital format only

  3. Focus for Teacher Librarians • Familiarization • Know it! If you don’t know it, you can’t use it! • Integration into Teaching and Learning programs • Information Literacy and Literature teaching • Its our job • Resourcing the curriculum • Collection development and Access

Familiarizing • Australian Curriculum v3.0 (R-10A) • Developed – History, English, Science, Mathematics • Reporting against Science and Mathematics in 2012 • Under development - Geography Languages, Arts, Technology • Format • ONLINE ONLY • Can be viewed in different ways to meet needs of users • Can be printed in different ways to meet needs of users • Guided tour is well worth it.

  6. You and the AC • How familiar with the curriculum are you? Rate yourself - 0-5 • Which curricula do you know best/least? • How often do you access it? • How do you access it? Online/ Hard copy? • How do you organize for using it in planning with teachers and in your own program? • Which parts have you explored? • Content descriptors? Elaborations? Rationale? Aims? Cross curriculum priorities? General capabilities? Achievement standards? Work samples? • What is your role in in-servicing / leading staff? How have you done this?
