In July 2001, China secured the rights to host the 2008 Olympics, leading to a rapid increase in visitors. To accommodate this surge, the Beijing Capital International Airport underwent significant expansion with Terminal 3, spanning 3 km and 0.98 million square meters. With 120 gates and a luggage handling system capable of processing over 19,000 bags per hour, it boasts the longest cantilevered entrance and the largest baggage system globally. The design, reminiscent of a dragon, symbolizes good fortune and showcases advanced connectivity, including links to the subway.
