Space Shuttles • Space Shuttles allowed astronauts to live in space for up to two weeks to complete experiments or repairs on space equipment. • It lands like an airplane • Space Shuttles were reusable. The names of the existing shuttles are: • Discovery • Atlantis • Endeavor Unfortunately, Challenger and Columbia are no longer part of the fleet because they were both in accidents.

  3. The Shuttle’s Boosters • The pair of solid rocket boosters are the first to die out and two minutes after launch they fall back to the ocean where they are collected and reused.
