  8. Mainstreaming vs measurement ? • The problems • Sector data are still lacking • If available, they will only give part of the picture (digital divide/applications) • The push towards ‘mainstreaming’ will make measurement more difficult

Mainstreaming vs measurement ? • Possible steps to be taken • Strengthen local statistical capacity (data collection) • Foster agencies’ abilities (andf interest) to collect application-related data • Encourage development sectors (e.g. health, education) to identify common IT indicators linked to performance and development impact.
