  1. Panther Quest A non-linear quest myth written by Panther Class

  2. Chapter 1: The Note(written by the whole class) SCREECH! Jade woke up suddenly, gasping for air, shivering uncontrollably. She had just had a terrible nightmare, though she couldn’t remember exactly what had happened. Petrified, she raced out of her magnificent four-poster bed and scrambled down the silver, spiralling, stone staircase. She tripped on the last step and landed with a THUD! In front of her, on the icy stone floor, she found a bright, white letter with scribbled handwriting. Slowly, she picked up the letter with her manicured hand and began to read…

  3. Princess Jade, I am fully aware of your concerns, they are all justified. I have kidnapped your parents, the King and Queen. If you do not find them within 5 days, they will surely suffer. Jade, face your fears, if you dare! Death p.s. your nightmare may lead you…

  4. ‘What does that mean?’ thought Jade, ‘What happens if I don’t get there in time?’ she gasped in fear. Jade quickly packed a bag with: some clothes, her nail set, the note, some food and water, her Father’s precious, deadly dagger and her bow and arrow. Once packed, Jade hastened towards the rickety drawbridge. As she crossed she felt anxious, in case she didn’t make it in time. Ahead of her was a rusty, iron signpost saying NORTH, SOUTH, EAST or WEST. Which way does Jade go? NORTH, EAST, SOUTH or WEST

  5. Chapter 2: North(written by Chloe and Nathan) Jade decided to go north; she walked down the long, cobblestone path. After a ten minute walk that seemed like hours, Jade sat down on a rock for a drink. She pulled the rucksack off her back and searched around for her bottle of water. She twisted the lid off and drank the icy water. She stood back up on the rock and put the drink away and carried on with her journey to save her parents. Jade reached the end of a stream, with stepping stones shaped like gleaming diamonds. Then Jade scanned the area for danger. Cautiously, Jade stepped onto the first one and noticed the diamond tower.

  6. Suddenly, Jade hopped onto the last stepping stone. However, it felt like it was eating her up! She twisted, twisted and twisted the handle a glimmering door that appeared in front of her. It slowly opened... • WHOOSH! An evil witch appeared in front of her. The witches wicked wart grew bigger and bigger. She asked Jade if she would like an apple as red as a red light. As Jade bit the crisp apple, a massive beanstalk the colour of moss appeared. Also, there were 4 more coloured beanstalks… Which beanstalk does Jade climb? MOSS, EMERALD, TURQUOISE , TOPAZ or LIME

  7. Chapter 2: East(written by Jessica and Josh) Jade walked to the end of the path and saw utterly dark tunnels which were sign posted: North, South, East &West . She slowly tiptoed towards the eastern entrance. Jade scampered into the huge, petrifying tunnel and guided herself on her hands and knees in the damp, distant darkness. She was breathing frantically. She was so isolated, like an abandoned bear cub. She scurried across the stone, cold floor and found a scatty piece of paper. A thought, not long after, sprang into her head. As she looked forward she saw a little speck of light in the distance…

  8. Jade travelled quicker, quicker, quicker. She was like a cheetah chasing its prey. She saw a dark shadow rolling around in mid-air. At last, she got to a luminous, hairy hedgerow. Before her she saw a glimmering, golden orb meeting her. It rested at her feet. She spied a hole in the bubble and so she slowly crawled in. Bang! The zipper snarled shut. She desperately pushed the zorb around the terrifying maze of hedges. Then, dead ahead of her she saw five towering beanstalks. The bubble popped open and Jade stared ahead. Which beanstalk does Jade climb? MOSS, EMERALD, TURQUOISE , TOPAZ or LIME

  9. Chapter 2: South(written by Caitlain and Kian) Jade scrambled down the narrow, northern path. Suddenly, she was blinded by 100 shimmering lazers! Jade walked further through the chamber and found a bronze plaque with a poem on. She read it out loud… “Angle the mirrors to get a clue, if you angle them right…” Then the rest was smudged by a lazer that had hit it. She desperately sprinted to the mirrors and angled them carefully. Suddenly, a note appeared!

  10. Dear Princess Jade, You are halfway there but your biggest fear is yet to come… Death p.s. The clock is ticking!

  11. Fear gripped her heart! After dropping the letter, Jade rapidly searched for a way out. Surrounding her was a cobweb of lazers layered in shimmering bright light. They were so bright it blinded her! Suddenly, her golden, glistening hair was singed; the evil lazer had burnt it… She dashed, bashed and bumped into 5 beanstalks. Which beanstalk does Jade climb? MOSS, EMERALD, TURQUOISE , TOPAZ or LIME

  12. Chapter 2: West(written by Megan S and Ewan) Jade walked down the patterned path. She saw a banana tree. The bananas jiggled to one side. Slowly she reached up for the massive bunch of fruit. Suddenly, a, evil, giant monkey pounced out of the tree. As fast as lightning, the monkey grabbed her foot, pulling her towards him. She saw his terrifying, blood-shot eyes staring at her. Ahead of her she saw a family of evil monkeys slurping with spit at their lips…

  13. Suddenly, the monkeys were growing bigger and bigger and bigger. They looked as vicious and a hungry tiger. Quickly, Jade tried to escape from the vines around her. Her head was hanging upside down and swinging like a swing. She saw more monkeys coming closer every second.Rip! The vine holding her ripped as she was too heavy. She flipped all the way down to the ground. She felt blood dripping from her bruised head. She yelped loudly “Help! I think I have broken my arm!” Where the blood fell she noticed beanstalks growing taller and taller. She rummaged through her first-aid kit and bandaged her banging head. She rose from the ground and looked up at the plants. Which beanstalk does Jade climb? MOSS, EMERALD, TURQUOISE , TOPAZ or LIME

  14. Chapter 3: Moss(written by Alisha) Jade climbed the mossy beanstalk. She found herself in a dark, deep cave. She carried on walking through. When she got to the end she saw a tower that made her quickly fall to the ground. She walked to the tower. There was a guard who started to chase after her. “Run for your life!” she thought. She gulped. When she got away from the guard she found herself back at the beanstalk b ut now, in front if her, was a angry giant. “Who are you?” he laughed. “I’m just looking around!” Jade replied. Jade felt like killing him. “I hate it here, it’s like a dungeon.” she thought…

  15. Jade nervously slid down the beanstalk as fast as a Subaru. When she landed at the bottom she ran back through the dark, scary cave that had bats in it. She couldn’t see where she was going because the bats kept flying in front of her face. It felt like a feather tickling her. Suddenly, the bats flew off. Lights came on and in the ground was a giant calculator. “Which operation do you choose?” It asked her with its buttons flashing. Which operation does Jade choose? ADD, SUBTRACT, MULTIPLY or DIVIDE

  16. Chapter 3: Emerald(written by Harry) Reluctantly, Jade climbed the emerald beanstalk, hoping she would find a clue (she wished there was a blue, butterfly-like letter). As she reached out for the letter, shockingly, another hand reached out for it. Quickly she bit their arm and grabbed the letter, scrambling off. She knew she was being followed so every now and then she would unexpectedly turn a corner and wait for them to pass. Jade rushed up near an old rickety house, hoping there was someone in. Sneakily, the door creaked open and the wind blew out. What would happen next..?

  17. Unexpectedly, a hand reached out from the door then grabbed her neck as if it were about to rip her head off! Suddenly, she remembered the feather she had in her pocket. She grabbed it and tickled the hand until it went back inside to feast on its victims! Out of nowhere she heard a rustle in the corn field. Straight away she flinched and brought out her pocket knife whilst her hand wobbled freakishly in the light.

  18. Shadows were scattering across the old, shaky wooden house; a flashback – she saw herself and her parents playing in the garden. Then she realised she had to get on with her quest. The corn, all of a sudden, wobbled scarily. She pushed the corn to one side and saw... a curious, caged, counter-attacking calculator! She felt terrified knowing that it could escape any second! There she was, staring at it. She heard a gun shot as it whistled past her head! It was on the other side of the field. Which operation does Jade choose? ADD, SUBTRACT, MULTIPLY or DIVIDE

  19. Chapter 3: Turquoise(written by Rachel) Jade quickly climbed the turquoise, gem encrusted bean stalk. Whoosh! The railing vibrated from her hand to her wrist; her heart jumped in fear. The echoes went round and round like a never-ending spiral. Slowly, Jade turned around and saw a sign ‘VeloElo.’ As Jade reached to touch the sign, the heat erupted in her hand. Shaking, Jade picked up her hand and looked at it; letters were seared onto her palm. “Take one step forward!”

  20. Jade crawled across the floor. BANG! Under her feet, the disintegrated floor grew into a dark tunnel going down and down and down like a body of a snake. The chalky walls echoed like wolves howling. Jade saw pictures of Pantheris being taken over by ‘Death’ SPLASH! Jade fell in to icy, cold water and picked up the cunning calculator. “Oh! Get your hands of me!” screeched the calculator like an angry leprechaun. “Let me past!” said Jade with bravery. “Only if you select the correct operation!” Which operation does Jade choose? ADD, SUBTRACT, MULTIPLY or DIVIDE

  21. Chapter 3: Lime(written by Jordon) Jade climbed the adventurous lime beanstalk. When got to the mossy top of the beanstalk, she found a huge cave (big enough for a troll). Jade cautiously entered the monsterouscave. When she got to the end, she saw a bright shimmering sword. She heard a gigantic booming voice. “Who’s there?” She questioned. “Your friend, Jade.” Replied the voice.

  22. When Jade entered, four trolls came out of the corners. They had horrible warts over there sickly green faces and horrible flaky skin and one of the trolls ate his flaky skin! They smelt like 18 rubbish bins which hadn’t been cleared out for 29 years. Jade was petrified. The trolls hit Jade on the face and body and broke her leg. She screamed in agony. She managed to stand up. SLICE! SLASH! DICE! CRUSH! Jade had killed the four trolls with her father’s dagger. Jade swung the door open. “Please I’ve had enough.” stated Jade. In front of her was a massive calculator with 4 buttons… Which operation does Jade choose? ADD, SUBTRACT, MULTIPLY or DIVIDE

  23. Chapter 3: Topaz(written by Megan N) Jade climbed the Topaz coloured vine; it was like out of Jack and the beanstalk. Finally, when she got to the top, she found a world that had words in every little nook and cranny. She found a really, ridiculously large castle. Jade disappointedly paced through the vicious village leading to the castle. She walked into the midnight castle. “Ha, I’ve finally got you!” Creaked a loud voice. A giant walked out creepily. Jade then pulled out her daring Dad’s dagger. Quickly, she climbed up the giant’s leg as it did the Harlem shake. The more he danced the more she felt like giving up…

  24. Cautiously, she climbed up the giant beast and plunged the daring dagger into the double-decker bus sized heart. Smash! The menacing giant fell to the floor. Behind the giant was a massive calculator. On the screen it said: pick a operation… Which operation does Jade choose? ADD, SUBTRACT, MULTIPLY or DIVIDE

  25. Chapter 4: Add(written by John) Jade walked into the open warehouse and she picked up a missile from the floor. She found the exit and… Bang! A T-Rex-Dragon-Bee appeared. It roared, breathed fire and got its stinger ready all at the same time! Jade felt betrayed. Then the T-Rex hit her… Jade fell onto the ground and hit her head. She saw her Mum and Dad. “Mum, Dad, is that you?” Then they disappeared. She woke up and remembered she had the missile. She shot it at the monster. There was blood everywhere. Jade walked through the door marked ‘exit’.

  26. In front of her she saw a massive black castle with red windows and goblin guards. She had no idea what to do. She heard something behind her. It was a big dragon but it was a kind dragon. It whispered “Hi, let me get you out of this mess.” So she climbed on its back and they attacked all the goblin guards. The dragon went first and set everything on fire. Then Jade used her dagger. They went to the entrance of the castle. Inside, Jade saw Death and her parents. The dragon tried to set Death on fire but he was too strong. Jade got her missile and shot Death but he was still too strong. Jade’s Dad shouted “Use the dagger!” So Jade threw the dagger at Death and he finally disappeared into smoke. She got her parents and they lived happily ever after.

  27. Chapter 4: Subtract(written by Megan S) Jade looked around the dusty, dark warehouse. Suddenly, she lifted her bleeding leg. The floor boards creaked as she walked, slow as a snail. Bang! A floorboard fell straight from the sky. “Where did that come from?” she yelled to herself. She heard a whisper screech out “The kitchen, come, come, come in the kitchen!” Jade’s hear jumped out of her body!.. As Jade walked through the darkness she found a light switch but it didn’t work. Quickly, she turned around.

  28. “So you decided to welcome yourself into my warehouse?” “I didn’t. Please, let me explain,” Jade asked in fear. “Why should I?” The voice came out of nowhere again. Jade looked around. She saw a red eye beaming at her. It was so bright she would get a suntan from it! Carefully, Jade tiptoed towards the light… The light flickered in the dark. The voice spoke again “What is your name?” Jade stood in silence. “I said…” “Yes, yes, I know what you said!” Jade exclaimed in fear. “Well?” The voice replied. Somehow she knew the voice sounded familiar. She walked slowly backwards. Bang! She fell down, down.

  29. 2 minutes later she landed on a hard, cold floor. She looked around. There was nothing in the room with her. Then the voice from Jade’s nightmare challenged her to a game of war. She grabbed her dagger and shivered, then babbled bravely: “Bring it on!” Ting, tang, the weapons of the soldier slashed. Stab! Then he dropped dead with a dagger through his heart. She saw a light. She walked into her freedom. Then it went black, so black that you can’t see, clack that is deadly. Suddenly, she saw her parents! She ran up to them with a smile on her face. Then jade screamed as loud as an elephant. “Mum, Dad, I missed you!” Then she saw they weren’t moving. She cried like a baby until there were pools on the floor. She could hardly breathe. She dragged them out of the room. Jade held her parents close to her hear and said, as she wiped her tears away, “I will never forget you, I love you!”

  30. Chapter 4: Multiply(written by James) BANG! A giant piece of wood hit Jade on the head, hard, flung by some strange hostile from about 200 yards back. Jade was surrounded by mist so she couldn’t see where she was actually going. She was really spooked out by this horrible situation. • She whispered “Where am I?” • She felt really brave, so she kept running and running to find the warehouse.

  31. Three minutes later Jade could see the red light but she thought to herself “Don’t red lights normally mean danger?” She slowly walked there anyway and unexpectedly... a huge zombie appeared in front of Jade and grabbed her by the neck. “AAAAH!” Jade quickly got her dagger out and recklessly chopped the zombie’s head off. She never wanted to see a zombie again! Although Jade was saving her parents, she knew she had to get out of there. BOOM! All of the gates suddenly closed and she had no way to escape! “Bha...bha!” A huge herd of zombies came dashing at Jade and all she had was a dagger. What was she going to do now?

  32. Chapter 4: Divide(written by Caitlin) As Jade typed in her answer on the critical calculator and felt herself being whirled around. Suddenly her bleak, blue eyes opened revealing a pitch black musty, dusty atmosphere. “Eeek!” she whimpered. “Please, is there anyone here to help me? I can’t be left here on my own.” Jade whispered as quiet as a mouse, “I’m scared of the...the...the...dark!” She knew she was in the middle of something, maybe some kind of big room.

  33. Jade moved her foot...creak! “Ahh!” she shakily shrieked. Just then her eyes adjusted to the shadowy darkness. She could just make out rows of old, vile, rickety steel shelves piled high with... are they bones? Jade was sure she could see clear as crystal; white as an ocean pearl. Jade ventured one step closer, this was as far as she dared! Jade shut her eyes and imagined death standing right in front of her. Unexpectedly, there he was. Quickly, Jade fled to a far corner where it was impossible to see her hands in front of her face. Jade’s heaving head rested against cool, cracked mud bricks.

  34. Angry shadows, gross voices, red eyes, night horrors! Jade felt rats scuttling across her feet and...braveness in her heart. “Oh,” she thought “Everything I imagined happened, now all I have to do is...imagine my parents. Simple!” she screeched loudly. The words echoed deafeningly around the room. “No, no, no!” Death bellowed. He rushed at Jade but she knew what to do. Jade erased him out of her mind. “That sorts you out!” she cried. Finally Jade imagined her mum and dad. “Mummy, Daddy!” she managed to squeak and hugged them both tightly, her eyes pouring salty tears of pure joy and happiness. Jade’s heart pounded in her skinny chest. She remembered she hadn’t had anything to eat for days. Jade imagined a toffee bun in her mouth. “Yum!” she mumbled. “I’m glad to have you back.”
