  1. Carbon fibers and their properties

  2. Carbon fibers, abbreviated as CF are the fibers that are mostly made up of carbon atoms. To create e carbon fiber, the carbon atoms are usually bonded together in crystals that are aligned parallel along the long axis of the fiber giving them a higher strength to volume ratio thus making them stronger in size. The honeycomb shaped crystals are organized into long ribbons. The crystal alignment hence makes the ribbon strong along the axis. As a result, a tow is formed by combining several carbon fibers that can be woven into a fabric.

  3. Properties of carbon fibers 1. High stiffness: Stiffness or rigidity of a body is measured in terms of its young modulus. It calculates the amount of deflection of a material under stress. Carbon fiber is nearly four times stiffer than a glass augmented plastic, almost 20 times than a pipe, and 2.5 times higher than aluminum. 2. High tensile strength:Ultimate strength is the maximum amount of stress that a body can bear while being stretched before necking or failing. Necking is the significant contraction of a sample cross section under pressure. For e.g. a strip of a plastic bag will stretch at one point and on the other point it will get narrow .Tensile strength of a material is measured in force per unit area. A brittle material, because of its internal flaws doesn’t always fail at the same stress level. Re

A brittle material, because of its internal flaws doesn’t always fail at the same stress level. 3. Fire resistance: Depending upon the material and the manufacturing procedure, carbon fibers can be made to feel soft to the hands and can be made more integrated into a protective shelter for firefighting. The best example of this can be a nickel coated fiber. Also carbon fibers are very chemically inert, and hence can be used with the combination of the corrosive agents and fire.

  5. 4. Nonpoisonous, Biologically inert:These characteristics make carbon fiber a very useful product in medical applications. Although being a nonpoisonous, the carbon fibers can be little irritating and long term exposure should therefore be kept limited. The matrix can sometimes be toxic and demands proper care while working with epoxy or polyester.

  6. Clproduct.com is one of the most reliable carbon fiber manufacturer that is specialized in making real carbon fiber products that meet our requirements and is a onetime complete solution to all our demands.
