  2. A Debate on putting into practice • This is an activity developed by Evelyn J. Brouwer (MERLOT). • The purpose of this activity was initially to review six significant philosophical schools in education and their application to real contexts. • Learning objective: • To review the major philosophies in education • To become familiar with a variety of teaching theories • Tasks: • Choose three different theories, read about them, and match each one to a philosophy of education: perennialism, existentialism, progressivism, social reconstructionism, humanism, essentialism. There may not be an exact match to aphilosophy, however, choose one and explain your rationale for your matching.

Managing Diversities • This activity can be modified to fit the course’s need • Individual work or group work • Tasks: • Choose one teaching method among various approaches taught • Argue how this approach match your expectation • Resources needed • To be determined • Audience: • To be determined by the pre-service teachers • To be determined by both the instructor or the pre-service teachers • Situations • To choose from the list used in Professional Development
