What is Birmingham Energy Savers? • Partnership for 8 years with Birmingham City Council • Free energy audit for homes and businesses • Introduction to Green Deal • Benefit local economy – jobs, training, contracts • Working with local community groups to engage with residents • Lasting benefits through behaviour change and involvement Help Birmingham residents save money on fuel bills and have warmer homes

  4. The Challenge: by 2015… • 12,000 fuel poor households benefiting • Annual fuel spend down by £15m • Annual CO2 emissions reduced by 18ktonnes • 150 SMEs assisted to participate • 300 new Jobs • £160m of GD & ECO investment in the city

  5. Progress to date • Handled 3000+ calls • 220 Assessment undertaken / 378 Assessments booked • 1100+ Engagements made via community groups • 38 Staff employed by Carillion directly • 10 Green Deal Assessors trained

  6. Community Engagement: working together • Trusted voice signposting to BES – Free home energy assessment for clients. • Recruiting Community Ambassadors to share the energy efficiency message. Training available to up skill ambassadors. • Information sharing – newsletters, web-pages - happy to attend briefing meetings and events. • Overcoming barriers – the “loft clearance partnership”
