Project Overview *Students will work together to understand and model our school-wide expectations: Be SAFE, Be RESPECTFUL Be RESPONSIBLE, and Be a PEACEMAKER Our class has been asked to enter a photo competition displaying these expectations! * Students will establish classroom routines, schedules, tools and our calendar.

Reading Skills Story Structure Plot Mr. Putter and Tabby Pour the Tea Materials Needed Treasures Book Comprehension Papers Noise Level 1 • Listen to Leaders read task list. • Gather all materials. • Open to page 42 in your Treasures book. • Taking turns with your group members, read aloud Mr. Putter and Tabby Pour the Tea with your group. • When you have finished the story, work together complete the comprehension activities with your group. • Turn the papers into the Turn In File with your name on the top. Extension Activity: Read Charlotte’s Web and complete the character analysis. Project Connection Class Expectations Hopes and Dreams What will happen if… I don’t get it. I didn’t finish. Skills Capitalization Punctuation Complete Sentences Writing“School-wide Expectations” • Materials Needed • Writing Journal • Graphic Organizer • Pencil Noise Level 1 • Listen to Leaders read task list. • Gather all materials. • As a group, name all the school-wide expectations. • Choose 1 expectation you would like to write about to display in the classroom. • Use the graphic organizer to write down examples of what your expectation looks like, sounds like and feels like when students follow them correctly. • Next, use your ideas to write a paragraph about your expectation in your writing journal. • Be sure to write your name and date at the top of your page. • Finally, share your writing with a partner in your group for feedback. Self-Selected Reading / Accelerated Reader Skills Reading fluency and comprehension SSR and AR points Noise Level 0 • Choose a library book or a book of choice that you have not read. • Be sure you picked a book that you can read alone. • Silently read . • After you finish your book, write the name of the book in your Data Binder. • Be sure to fill in the information about your book in your binder. • If you can answer all the questions in your Data Binder, get your laptop and log on to AR to take your test. • Record your AR score in your Data Binder. . • Materials Needed • Data binder • Book of choice • Computer What will happen if… I don’t get it.
