Accelerator and NuMI Upgrades Shutdown Update

NuMI Activities • Horn 1 and Horn 2 • Installation is complete • Pulse testing scheduled for next week • Target • Has been installed in the chase • Preparing for power supply testing (next week) • Interlock testing • Pretarget down to target hall • Prepare chase for Horn pulse testing & thermal scan of stripline • Next week, process will take ~3 days • General • Raw water systems • Complete and running: Target, Horn 1, Horn 2, All RAW skids system, exchange systems tested and operations • Completed beamline vacuum work & all ion pumps on. Final survey completed. • Started demobilizing shutdown equipment from Target Hall • Closed up By the 14 of June…. • Installed LBNE Muon Monitor prototype infrastructure in Absorber Passageway

MI/RR Shutdown 2012 RR-30 straight: • MI primary collimator marble shielding re-installation is complete • Bake is completed downstream of 309. • Bake is completed upstream of 229. • Installing Recycler Ring beam pipe between girders: Approximately 90% complete. • 229 Recycler Kicker spool installed, kickers pumping down. • Replacing corroded MI beam pipe (301-304) • Starting on MI re-assembly at 306 – 308 • Need MI drawings • Reworking multiwire installations to • clear obstructions

MI/RR Shutdown 2012 Startup activities for last week: • Removed all locks from the MI/RR MCR LOTO box by Friday. • Re-core tunnel to standard tunnel access keys for the weekend. • Safety system tests were successfully completed • Successfully high potted all the MI busses to 1 KV • To many faults were removed to list… • Re-core back to shutdown keys on Monday morning to continue with tunnel installation Startup activities for this week: • Removed all locks from the MI/RR MCR LOTO box by Friday. • Re-core tunnel to standard tunnel access keys for the weekend. • Main Buss Power supply testing through out the weekend • Re-core back to shutdown keys on Monday morning to continue with tunnel installation
