Purpose/Methodology • Determine the impact of single trip permitted oversize/overweight (OSOW) trucks on flexible pavement. • The pavement performance to be analyzed though the means of both field work and software analysis (AASHTOWare).
Results • WI-140 had severe stresses through visual analysis. • Rutting depth in specific sections at 1.0 inches. • Analysis through AASHTOWare also had the pavement failing early with the addition of OSOW trucks in the axle load spectra. Threshold: 20% Threshold: 20% Threshold: 20%
Conclusion/Summary • Certain state highways with high OW traffic (and high regular truck traffic) have serious pavement problems, such as WI-140. • Traffic counts at WI-140 confirmed a high number of OS/OW trucks. • The AASHTOWare analysis conducted on WI-140 agreed with the field measurements and pavement condition evaluation.
